Kenneth Branagh has tackled many of Shakespeare's works during his time a an actor and director. His 1996 version of HAMLET was lauded for its faithful replication of the Bard's vision, but Branagh had already taken a stab at directing some of Shakespeare's words prior to this, with 1988's TWELFTH NIGHT.
