I love the fact he's put an honest list together rather than some pretentious rubbish that some pr person has put together for an actor. In another interview he flagged up the 2005 French movie The Beat that My Heart Skipped. The lead role in that is the one he wished he could have played.

Pattinson is a down to earth class act.

guys, don't be such a-holes...sure I have no allegiance to this Twilight stuff, but the guy doesn't have terrible taste....sure seeing Corky Romano there was odd (which I haven't seen and don't plan to), but Pattinson gave original answers that he truly meant and thats something I can respect

The more I hear about this fellow, the more I like him. I may rent Twilight just to see how much life he breathes into Edward. His performance will probably be the high point of the movie (and series, as the case may be).

This is a website about movies, Robert Pattinson is an actor in a movie. Yeah try to wrap your mind around that.

Hey I have some weird guilty pleasures on my list. "Bridget Jones' Diary" and "The Wedding Singer", and "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" are on my list alongside "North By Northwest", "Little Miss Sunshine", and "The Apartment".

Well, I definitely don't mind that he like Corky Romano. We all have our guilty pleasure with some stupid films. It is nice to see someone having the gut to put that kind of films on the top 5 lists, which isn't wrong at all because he is just supposed to give the list of 5 films that he personally likes not the universally greatest films ever made.

What I want to know is why you whiney people are reading a Twilight feature story, if you have so much disdain for the whole franchise? No, I really didn't care what Pattinson's movie picks were, but they're there because there are fans over the age of 14 that log on to this site. They're probably trolling it to see if there are reviews up yet or not, because *shock shock* they were introduced to rotten tomatoes to get previews and reviews for other movies, so they could make informed decisions about their cinematic experiences. Or at least be warned when a movie they're about to see will disappoint them.

And please, you comic fans know that (hah if you were old enough at the time) you were going to see Batman Forever and/or Batman and Robin no matter how bad the reviews were.

A lot more than you probably think.

My list of five favorite films would have looked like this at 22:

Werckmeister Harmonies
Sansho the Bailiff
L'Avventura
The Color of Pomegranates
Pather Penchali

I say that because it's remained pretty much unchanged since then.

The likes of Godard and Fassbinder were my "gateway" directors when I was 18, and I'm a nobody. In fact, compared to some of my friends, my interest in film is quite mild.

The point being that we should expect actors to have a large knowledge of film. Something like that shouldn't be surprising, it should be common.

Honest list. That's good. The movies? Not so good. "The Exorcist" I like. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was a real disappointment for me, because I think Jack Nicholson ruined the whole thing (just like he ruined "The Shining").

Pattinson sounds like one of those people whose Top 5 list changes every week. But that's not a bad thing, either. It just means you need to find someone else to recommend movies to you.

i can't like one flew over the cuckoo's nest because i read the book. the movie was just too different and that altered my ability to evaluate the movie. (and if you haven't read the book, you must do so.)

I won't see Twilight without some booze and possibly a Rifftrax to keep me company, and I certainly won't pay to see it. However, seeing this list makes me respect the guy just a bit, and I might see his next movies. He's clearly not a film scholar, but the fact that he can speak with such enthusiasm about Godard--hell, the fact that he knows who Godard IS--is impressive. Even his reasons for liking Corky Romano are interesting, and who doesn't have their guilty pleasures?

I don't understand all the awe over the fact the he's heard of Godard. Godard is easily the most famous (read: overrated) of the French New Wave, which is, in turn, the most famous (read: overrated) film movement.

Any person who has taken a single film history class knows about Godard. Plus, all the Tarantino heads have checked him out just for QT's breathless ramblings about how awesome 'Breathless' is. (It's not.)

Now, 'Space Hookers from Planet Q'... that's a GOOD movie! I think David Niven played the lead...

he obviously knows his stuff about film with how he can just ramble on like that about great directors like Godard, who is one extremely influential whether you like his films or not.

i don't care about Twilight, because it seems like a clone of Blood & Chocolate which really was bad... but maybe i'll rent it just to see how this guy acts in it, because he seems to really have a love for film.

I think it's important to read into what he says about Corky Romano. He obviously likes watching it precisely because it's terrible. I can relate. I love watching Pootie Tang, but not because it's a good movie by any stretch of the imagination, but rather it's so ridiculous it approaches being sublime.
