The Twilight Saga: New Moon - Start Obsessing Now!

Get primed for the upcoming Twilight sequel, due in theaters next fall.

Alright, fellow Twilighters! You've read all the books; you've watched the movie. By now, you should own your own copy of the DVD, a drawer full of "I Heart Edward/Jacob" t-shirts (one for every day of the week, naturally), the chart-topping soundtrack, and - the piece de resistance for any Twilight die-hard -- your very own Edward Cullen action figure, to play with as you please in the comfort of your own home. So what's a Twilighter to do until the first sequel, New Moon, hits theaters later this year? Gear up for the next installment of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga with our primer on the next chapter in Bella and Edward's romance, currently in production.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON - THE STORY (WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD)

The huge success of Twilight can be attributed to a few elements: first, good casting. Second, faithfulness to its source material, as written by first-time novelist Stephenie Meyer. While screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (Step Up) deviated at times from Meyer's story, in which teenage introvert Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) fell for the 107-year-old vampire, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), Rosenberg stayed true to the essence of Meyer's novel...will she do so again in New Moon?

In New Moon, we catch up with Bella and Edward a few months after the proceedings of Twilight, in which they met, fell desperately in love, kissed exactly twice, and defeated the blood-thirsty vampire, James. (Hurrah!) But the lovebirds' burgeoning relationship is not without its flaws; she's still a fragile human, and he -- and, more importantly, those around him -- is still a super-strong, undead hottie, whose razor-sharp teeth prevent them from French kissing and whose animalistic thirst for blood keeps Bella under threat of perpetual danger. When an event makes Edward realize the danger his very presence puts Bella in, he pulls an "it's not you, it's me -- oh yeah, and the fact that I'm a vampire" and breaks off their relationship.

Thus begins New Moon, which suffers the unfortunate reputation of being the mopiest book in the series but opens new (and romantic) possibilities for Bella, who's already been through a lot for a girl who's still got her senior year of high school to contend with. As Edward breaks things off with Bella, she falls into a deep depression...but begins to snap out of it thanks to her increasingly close friendship with local Quileute Indian Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), whose own supernatural secret - he's the latest in a line of werewolves, who just happen to be the mortal enemies of vampires - draws Bella into yet another superhuman world.

Meanwhile, Bella's got an old enemy to contend with, as the bad girl vampire Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre) makes it known that she's out for Bella's life -- vengeance for the death of her own lover, James (Cam Gigandet) in the first film. That end scene in Twilight as the credits begin to roll? That's Victoria, already sniffing around Forks for the best opportunity to exact her revenge.

This must be STOPPED! Twilight= Apocalypse. Edwards Face= Zoolander Constipated. There is only one way to put an end to this, get that Edward kid to a tanning bed stat! Then we get him un-constipated, ledawg or Tomwaits Jr can do that job. Then girls won't like him anymore, then people will turn there backs on Twilight and that goofy kid's face. Maybe, just maybe if we do that, we can save mankind! Good work though Jen, nice for the fans... Demolish the Twilight EMPIRE!

i liked twilight for what it was. it almost reminded me of something from the 80's. a movie we all like to watch because it's kinda cheesy but strangely rad too.
also loved watchmen., so in response to jokerboy, let the kids have their twilight.

much better to me than a fast and the furious empire.

I have never fallen asleep so many times while reading a book. And I've read "Sir Walter Cratchett Esquire's Treatise on Pine Cone Keeping and Storing: A Historie."
It was 3,000 pages long in 9 point font... yet Twilight was just soooo boring.

Ok well..personally I loved reading the series and I loved the movies as well...it's different its love
I mean If u can't understand this..then obviously u can't read the book
and if u havent even finished the first book how can u judge???? THE STORY actually begins on chapter 13 because that is the way it was written.. .. so yeah if u let yourself get into it..you would appreciate it.
Everybody has his preferences but u cannot say that Twilight series is b o r i n g. Because it absolutely is not. Read the 3 last books before u judge. and to others i dont understand WHY u read these articles on New Moon when u dont even like the books or the movie!!

For God's sake, 'Twilight' is NOT that bad! I really don't understand this whole negative backlash. There are plenty of sh**ty movies out there to worry about-'Fast and Furious' managed to steal over 70 million at the box-office this weekend? Yes. They're still making those awful movies! No. 'Twilight' wasn't a life-changer, BUT for what it is, it's not half bad. I enjoyed the damn thing, and I'm not some bubble-licious chewing tween-no offense. C'mon! Not every movie can be 'Magnolia' (or put down your favorite film, and you get the point).

LOL were just all having fun, I really didn't like Twilight but yeah I didn't down right hate it like some. I can see why fans like it, the movie reached out to them, so the movie obviously achieved one of its goals. I would also say the same for Fast and Furious, not a bad movie, and something that fans will like. The movies achieve what they want to be, but what they do just isn't for me.I can see why people like them, I'm not trying to bash anyone, just having fun.

Thank you Tyrant, I was beginning to think I was the only one who thinks that it's incredibly disgusting and wrong that a movie got made where it's suddenly ok(and even encouraged) to be an old man going to high school and picking up on 15 year olds. The only difference is that Ed is an old man who looks young. I'll remember to use that line if I ever get arrested for statutory (Honest officer, I'm a vampire so it's ok if shes only 15) pfft.

Stop trying to fight it. Ignore the Twilight stories and just go see a real vampire movie. Twilight is just an after-school special with vampires instead of greasers, and no one ever complained this much about an after-school special. After all, there is worse stuff out there.

I actually enjoyed the UNDERWORLD films, for their twist on the vampire mythos. TWILIGHT has ripped off many of the ideas from that series, and blended it with GOSSIP GIRL and THE HILLS... Vomit.
