I don't understand the its being shoved down my throat argument. Is there some kind of Twilight cult going around strapping people down, holding your eyes open with toothpicks, and forcing you to read the articles, watch the movie, or read the books? If not than how is that argument even valid? If there is an article, tv show, book, movie, etc that I'm not interested in or don't like than I choose to move on. See that is the beauty of being human. We have this awesome thing called free will. I suggest some people need to implement this newly discovered ability its quite nice.

Now about the article. I go to a few of those sites but the one that I frequent the most is hisgoldeneyes.com. Every time I get on line its one of the first places I go.

The reason we say it's being shoved down our throats is because we can't go anywhere now without seeing or hearing about this crap. Twilight does nothing but cater to girls, which isn't bad but it leads to guys saying they like it for 2 reasons:
1. They're girlfriend is standing next to them and they want to continue getting laid
2. A girl they want to have sex with is standing within earshot.
So instead of being popular for what a book should be popular for (great story, concept, characters....which it has none of) it's popular because girls are attracted to preppy guys who look like they're covered in diamonds. And guys just want to have sex with these girls which is made that much easier. As reference watch South Park's episodes on the Twilight craze (The Ungroundable) and the Jonas Brothers (The Ring). Now if only they could get the Jonas Brothers to sparkle and wear clothes from Hot Topic you'd be able to hear the faint sounds of girls heads popping with excitement in the distance.
And before u come at me about not reading the book....I tried to read the book and watch the movie at my girlfriend's behest ("you'll love it believe me") and found it almost laughably horrible.

Chill out already man, we all know you got a picture of Robert Pattinson hanging up on your ceiling so its the first thing you see when you go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning. He's soooo dreamy!

Thank you for illustrating my point about the haters bringing the level of intelligence down. I think Pattinson's got potential, but he's a wee bit too young at this point to tell what kind of actor he's really going to become. I actually thought his performance in the movie was a bit weak, but got stronger as the movie went along. I actually prefer the books to the movies, both of which I've seen and feel confident in commenting on. I have no problem with intelligent dialog that criticizes either, but I'm also fairly confident in my assertion that commenting in the negative about something you freely admit you've never seen repeatedly and spouting blanket statements about how people are stupid for liking something without having the courtesy to back up what you say is not to be encouraged.

I also agree with the person that say's at one time we've all been guilty of this, but that doesn't mean it should be encouraged.

The Twilight books are great. I liked the movie and I can't wait for New Moon. There are some girls out there that take it too far and they give a bad name to all Twilight fans. We are not all crazy like some may think and Twilight is our outlet just like people who play video games or do other things to make them happy or forget about their problems for a while. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if they want to voice it they can. Not everyone will like Twilight but the only thing I disagree with are people who hate on it that haven't read the books. So much is left out of the first movie that makes people confused unless they have read the books. If you don't want to read the books or watch the movies or look at articles or pictures of Twilight then you don't have to. Twilight is a big thing and it continues to grow so there will be articles and pictures flying around all the time. You can't stop it. Twilight fans are going to continue to want more. It will eventually become less talked about but until all of the movies are made you will see Twilight everywhere.

About the article, my favorite is Twilighters.org, it is the best I have gone to so far.

Now, Twilight is tripe in my opinion, but seriously - Do you hear the Twilight fans complain that every single day is littered with stories comic book films? Really, you guys are just being jerks.

RT is a movie site, not a boys club. If you are terrified of women, then I suggest you get out more.

I'm looking forward to not reading the Twilight blogs.

But I do love all the back-and-forth's around here whenever a Twilight article pops up! That's the reason that I participate on these forums. The entertainment value of Twilight-forum-bickering is priceless. Nothing like a franchise that gets so deliberately hated on, that at the same time, gets so much love and loyalty. A

Jen I am surprised that you would promote sites that have stolen Midnight Sun and posted it with out SM's permission. This kind of behavior is the very reason SM is so up set and has put Midnight Sun on hold indefinitely! twilighters.org outright stole SM's letter and draft from her site and placed it on their site as if SM was supporting twilighters.org with this open letter, msn's twilight super fan blog at least did a better job, but still missed the point. They have a link to SM's site so you can go directly to the source and get it from SM (this is good), however, they blow it when they to added a special link to the draft only (this is bad) so everyone can bypass SM's point on why she but the draft on hold in the first place. The other two sites you highlight are spot on. They have respected SM request and not posted the draft at all. I guess that is one of the reasons that SM personally supports twilightlexicon.com. GOOD job to them for resisting. How can fan sties betray her and still call themselves fans? Sites that are disrespectful to artist and copyright laws should not get any of our interest, time or attention! Just because SM has HER draft posted on HER site does not give anyone else permission to copy and past or post on their sites (period!). For more information go directly to the source and see how SM feels about people that do these kinds of things with out permission. http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/midnightsun.html

I think the reason that people get so up in arms about Twilight, is that it's more of a guilty pleasure than a thing of substance. As someone else stated, they're not too different from cheap paperback romance novels. There's nothing about them that will appeal to a male audience. It's just something that makes girl squeal, and for what it is, that's fine. It's just that it's suddenly being compared to Harry Potter in terms of popularity, and while it's undeniably popular, it's equally despised by those it doesn't appeal to. At least Harry Potter is universally available to people of all ages and genders.

If you really love Twilight, they yay for you. But don't try and pass it off as something better than it really is. Just because girls love something sexy without substance isn't a bad thing. Men have the same thing. It's called porn. We just don't try and elevate it to something greater than it is. It's just cheap fluff that makes your nether regions tingle.

To moviemonkey: Twilight does appeal to all ages. I am in my twenties, my sister is almost 30 and my mom is 50 and we all like it. It is for different age groups and there are many guys who like Twilight. I know at least 5 who like it and are not gay. I am not dissing you because you don't like it I am just telling you facts. If you look at who showed up at comic con or Twicon then you will see older women and men in the audience.

Fair enough, I can respect that and agree with most of it. Though I think you sell Twilight a bit short, while it's not say Jane Austen there is a lot worse stuff out there and as I've said the genius of Twilight is how it connects with it's core audience. Lets not forget this was the first series Stephanie Meyer ever wrote. If you've ever read The Host, a sortof Tale of the Body Snatchers with a twist novel she wrote after the Twilight series it's a much more mature work and better illustrates her more traditional skills as a storyteller and doesn't cater as specifically to one demographic. In all honesty I think part of what won me over about Twilight is how much the women in my life enjoyed it, but once you open up your mind to it it's actually a pretty entertaining read. It's not great literature by traditional standards, but really neither were Conan or King Solomon's Mines in their time.

Look, my brothers, I don't like "Twilight", but stop commenting. Stop reading the articles. Just let those who like it, enjoy.

Why am I commenting if I don't like it? I always read everything RT does. And read all the comments. It's what I live for.

I don't usually comment, but like to read others, however, I decided I'd join in on this conversation simply because its fun. I have an 11 year old who absolutely loves it and does have Patinson's face plastered on her walls. I, on the other hand, find this amusing...and a little disturbing to see where others take their love for Twilight.
Its OK for others to hate it, comment on it and also ridicule some of you. This is what blogging and comments is all about. Go ahead, argue your points, share your views but don't hate on the "haters" as you call others who don't share your silly love for twilight - a movie (just like any other blockbuster) made for a single purpose - to make money!
Oh, gee, my daughter would kill me if she saw me write it. Time to go smoke a joint, pop a blu-ray of Twilight in, and watch that ****ty movie again... but I'll be ok, because I am spending time with my kid, talking about Bella and others, and she seems to enjoy it quite a bit...still a ****ty movie though...

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions of Twilight sites that weren't mentioned here. I had many of them on my radar and will be checking out the newer ones mentioned.

Christine R., I wasn't aware of what you pointed out, so thank you for mentioning it. I agree that content is far too willfully copy and pasted (in the Twilight community as well as the online community as a whole) and I do not support that kind of behavior.

Wow. Really? People say they hate it, but seem to have the need to keep coming back an re-reading the comments to argue with them? Of course Twilight is everywhere. Do you think manufactures would let this go without milking it for all its worth? Be logical, will you? I don't like Sponge Bob, but I didn't fell the need to flame it every chance I got. I was raised better. Try it. Its goes, "If you can not say anything nice, don't say anything at all".

"New Moon" premiere last November 20 was a huge success! Premieres and screenings have taken place accross the country, and loads of folks have gathered to watch. The New Moon opening weekend sales are the third highest grosses of all time. "New Moon" pulled over $ 140 million at home, blasting weekend estimates of $ 85 to $ 100 million right out of the water. Only "The Dark Knight" and "Spiderman 3" had bigger opening weekends at the US box office. %u201CNew Moon%u201D also pulled in the most money for midnight ticket sales, earning $ 26.3 million at the box office Thursday in the US before the opening Friday shows. It%u2019s likely those who were short of cash paid for their tickets with an allowance advance rather than a loan till payday, but filmmakers and theaters don%u2019t care where the money comes from.
