Discover the Best Twilight Blogs!

Update your bookmarks folder with these comprehensive fan sites!

In our second installment of our regular New Moon Mondays, we take a moment to spotlight the fine fan-driven sites that help keep Twilight love brewing online. From Twilighters to Twi-hards to Twilight Super Fans, these are some of our favorite Twilight-dedicated fan sites on the web -- our Twilight blog roll! If you're not reading them for your daily New Moon fix (or for the sights and sounds of last weekend's TwiCon), start checking out these highly specialized outlets now. (And don't worry if your favorite Twi-site isn't listed; tell us who we left off and why you read them, and we'll include them in a future blog roll update!)

Twilighters.org
This extensive site has great news coverage of all things related to the films and their cast members, with objective -- ok, sparse -- editorializing. Twilighters was founded by two cousins, neither of whom were born before 1990, which makes me feel old, but impressed all the same with the site they've built. Check out their Fan of the Week feature and countdown clock...to Eclipse's premiere date! (Only 332 days and counting...)

MSN's Twilight SuperFan
MSN's SuperFan, our dear friend Myriam Gabriel-Pollock, writes exhaustive daily blog posts just for you Twilight obsessives on one of the internet's largest portals. Read her Wednesday "Rob Round-ups," if you're an RPattz devotee, and never go another week without a Pattinson fix. I guarantee that nowhere else in the mainstream blogosphere will you ever read the phrase "OME" (AKA Oh My Edward).
Twilight Lexicon
For a comprehensive catalog of all things Twilight (we're not even just talking the movies, since the site originated in response to Stephenie Meyer's books), there is none better than Twilight Lexicon. It is just that -- a veritable encyclopedia of details regarding the Twilight Saga world, containing sections of meticulously researched character bios (with chapter citations, natch), a Saga-spanning timeline, and detailed chapter summaries of every single book. The Twilight Lexicon also bears Meyer's seal of approval as pages of personal correspondences attest, which also offer more minutely detailed information than one Twilighter can possibly ever know (i.e., when is Edward Cullen's birthday?**).
BellaAndEdward.com
Google "Twilight fan site" and BellaAndEdward pops up first, one of the largest Twilight sites on the net. Creator and admin Michelle does a fantastic job posting a steady stream of Twi-news each day, and can handily direct you to the latest photo shoot or media content of the Twilight cast; if it's online, she'll find it. (Personal/paparazzi pics have been editorially banned for the safety of the cast.) Head over to check out BaE's coverage of last weekend's fan gathering, TwiCon.
Twilight Examiner
If you're looking for more straight reportage on all things Twilight, the Twilight Examiner provides a newsy layout that looks like a newspaper website... if said newspaper only wrote about vampires who sparkle and the respective actors who play them. Examiner Amanda Bell stays especially on top of the media mentions and appearances of the Twilight cast, so you can track their every (Twitter) move.

Check back every Monday afternoon for the latest New Moon Monday, and get our full Twilight Saga and New Moon coverage at RT's Twilight Corner. The Twilight Saga: New Moon is in theaters November 20.

At least you didn't go with that dip**** Ted on E! Rare has been the times I've seen more exploitative crappola. I've read a couple of articles just because it connects with my Yahoo fantasy baseball page and was horrified by it. It was almost enough to shake even my unflagging optimism.

Like, oh my god, this is my most favoritest news story-thingy ever! It reminds me of that time when I was telling Jessica about Sarah and then Rory came up and whispered to Nicky about Amanda and we all went to the mall and met Jenny... this is soooo like that!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Twilight = the goosebumps of paperback romance novels. R.L. Stine eat your heart out.

CtrlAltdestroy is right to deride twilight. It's just awful. No way around it. I owe an apology to the harry potter fans because at least it has a slight semblance of something almost like human intelligence. Twilight is just...just terrible. Its a reductive force in our culture and actually slows down the progress of mankind. We must stop it at all costs.

King Kubrick

Great, insightful counter arguement. I can think of no possible way to refute the immaculate logic your statement is frought with. Now go ahead and try and defend twilight with a straight face and tell me if you can look in the mirror afterward and not feel a sense of deep, deep, well deserved shame.

Bigbrother

Bigbrother on 08-3-2009 05:20 PM

Uh huh, but did you ever notice it's usually you guys who're bashing the Twi-hards who usually bring down the intelligence level of the conversations? At least on RT?

Look man I get that you don't like Twilight, but why must you come on every thread with the same old tired crap. As you've say, you've said it before. Let it go, you'll be happier, everybody else will be happier. Bringing other people down is no way to make yourself feel good.

What because King Kubrick is an "elitist?" Good grief, is there no respect for intelligence anymore? Can no one see the absolute horror that is Twilight. I watched it and complained about before I even knew other peeps hated it. I thought it was the new fantasy craze but it's so god awful in ways the supersede an individual's opinion.

Y'know what I love?

I love the fact that the people who hate anything to do with Twilight, take the time to click on a Twilight related story and comment about how much they hate it. Its almost as if, deep down, watching Twilight or reading the books is a guilty pleasure. And they hate themselves for it, so they have to let everyone else know how god awful they (apparently) think it is.

(Maybe I'm wrong, but sometimes this does happen)

But really, why click on the header if you hate it? Whats the point? Why not spend your time commenting on subject matter that you actually really enjoy?

And yes, I love the Twilight Saga, and the movie. Am I ashamed? Not one little bit =)

King Kubrick

King Kubrick on 08-4-2009 12:34 AM

Yeah if I didn't have to come on my favourite website everyday and be bombarded by goddamn twilight idiocy. It's not like they post an article about it once a month. It's a weekly series. I'd love to permanently sear any memory of twilight from my mind and just ignore it, the world would be a much happier place. Put you people can't stop flinging in everyone's faces. You can enjoy garbage all you want; that's your perogative. But forgive me for getting irritated when garbage is flung in my face every single day. It's enough to drive a man insane.

%u2022 Really (and I think I speak for all whom apply when you *are* wrong, even though I'm sure you're right from time to time), it's just because we feel, on such an instinctive level, a sort of festering repulsion: the source of which we must attempt to minimize...if at all possible.

"But really, why click on the header if you hate it? Whats the point? Why not spend your time commenting on subject matter that you actually really enjoy?"

%u2022I'd assume that most of the people who comment on articles like this comment on most of the articles published, including (and *especially*) the articles they like. Commenting on the articles/topics one likes and on the articles/topics one dislikes are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

I still don't understand, why some people who don't like Twilight, are always saying bad things about the books and/or the movies. Seriously, now if you don't like it then don't pay attention to it. It's just like if someone doesn't like a certain type of food, they don't buy it and they don't eat it; when they're somewhere where that food is served they refuse it politely and walk away. With no harm done. Which is what some people should do. Yes we all know it's all in your face stuff, but just like the person who walked away from that type of food, you can all walk away from Twilight if you want to. You don't have to like it, we're not making you like it. We're just expressing our joy for the books and the movies. Seriously just be the adult you are and walk away. :D

Alright I love how all of u are so bewildered about the actions of the twilight haters and acting like you've never went out of your way to voice your distaste for something! ILLOGICAL

Secondly, I love twilight this has nothing to do with my feelings towards twilight...just don't act like it doesn't make sense and you "just don't understand" those people when all of us actually do understand and have done it ourselves for other things we didn't like too....just silly.

And If I never got around to reading the books and gotten into twilight I can completely understand how many people would be annoyed about the whole craziness of it's fans and the insane devotion that "twi-hards" have....there is something wrong with them they are ill.

Yes it's a great story and yes i love to see it brought to the big screen but SERIOUSLY some people...well a lot of people actually...are taking twilight and everything related to Twilight way to damn seriously...

Stacy

Stacy on 08-4-2009 03:01 AM

I don't understand the its being shoved down my throat argument. Is there some kind of Twilight cult going around strapping people down, holding your eyes open with toothpicks, and forcing you to read the articles, watch the movie, or read the books? If not than how is that argument even valid? If there is an article, tv show, book, movie, etc that I'm not interested in or don't like than I choose to move on. See that is the beauty of being human. We have this awesome thing called free will. I suggest some people need to implement this newly discovered ability its quite nice.

Now about the article. I go to a few of those sites but the one that I frequent the most is hisgoldeneyes.com. Every time I get on line its one of the first places I go.

tehFozz

tehFozz on 08-4-2009 11:54 AM

@Stacy
The reason we say it's being shoved down our throats is because we can't go anywhere now without seeing or hearing about this crap. Twilight does nothing but cater to girls, which isn't bad but it leads to guys saying they like it for 2 reasons:
1. They're girlfriend is standing next to them and they want to continue getting laid
2. A girl they want to have sex with is standing within earshot.
So instead of being popular for what a book should be popular for (great story, concept, characters....which it has none of) it's popular because girls are attracted to preppy guys who look like they're covered in diamonds. And guys just want to have sex with these girls which is made that much easier. As reference watch South Park's episodes on the Twilight craze (The Ungroundable) and the Jonas Brothers (The Ring). Now if only they could get the Jonas Brothers to sparkle and wear clothes from Hot Topic you'd be able to hear the faint sounds of girls heads popping with excitement in the distance.
And before u come at me about not reading the book....I tried to read the book and watch the movie at my girlfriend's behest ("you'll love it believe me") and found it almost laughably horrible.

General Disarray

General Disarray on 08-4-2009 04:49 AM

In all fairness, they do post a twilight article like every friggin day.

@ Big Brother

Chill out already man, we all know you got a picture of Robert Pattinson hanging up on your ceiling so its the first thing you see when you go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning. He's soooo dreamy!

Bigbrother

Bigbrother on 08-4-2009 01:31 PM

Thank you for illustrating my point about the haters bringing the level of intelligence down. I think Pattinson's got potential, but he's a wee bit too young at this point to tell what kind of actor he's really going to become. I actually thought his performance in the movie was a bit weak, but got stronger as the movie went along. I actually prefer the books to the movies, both of which I've seen and feel confident in commenting on. I have no problem with intelligent dialog that criticizes either, but I'm also fairly confident in my assertion that commenting in the negative about something you freely admit you've never seen repeatedly and spouting blanket statements about how people are stupid for liking something without having the courtesy to back up what you say is not to be encouraged.

I also agree with the person that say's at one time we've all been guilty of this, but that doesn't mean it should be encouraged.

Crystal M. on 08-4-2009 04:50 AM

The Twilight books are great. I liked the movie and I can't wait for New Moon. There are some girls out there that take it too far and they give a bad name to all Twilight fans. We are not all crazy like some may think and Twilight is our outlet just like people who play video games or do other things to make them happy or forget about their problems for a while. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if they want to voice it they can. Not everyone will like Twilight but the only thing I disagree with are people who hate on it that haven't read the books. So much is left out of the first movie that makes people confused unless they have read the books. If you don't want to read the books or watch the movies or look at articles or pictures of Twilight then you don't have to. Twilight is a big thing and it continues to grow so there will be articles and pictures flying around all the time. You can't stop it. Twilight fans are going to continue to want more. It will eventually become less talked about but until all of the movies are made you will see Twilight everywhere.

About the article, my favorite is Twilighters.org, it is the best I have gone to so far.

Rusty Broomhandle on 08-4-2009 05:01 AM

Now, Twilight is tripe in my opinion, but seriously - Do you hear the Twilight fans complain that every single day is littered with stories comic book films? Really, you guys are just being jerks.

RT is a movie site, not a boys club. If you are terrified of women, then I suggest you get out more.

I'm looking forward to not reading the Twilight blogs.

But I do love all the back-and-forth's around here whenever a Twilight article pops up! That's the reason that I participate on these forums. The entertainment value of Twilight-forum-bickering is priceless. Nothing like a franchise that gets so deliberately hated on, that at the same time, gets so much love and loyalty. A

Jen I am surprised that you would promote sites that have stolen Midnight Sun and posted it with out SM's permission. This kind of behavior is the very reason SM is so up set and has put Midnight Sun on hold indefinitely! twilighters.org outright stole SM's letter and draft from her site and placed it on their site as if SM was supporting twilighters.org with this open letter, msn's twilight super fan blog at least did a better job, but still missed the point. They have a link to SM's site so you can go directly to the source and get it from SM (this is good), however, they blow it when they to added a special link to the draft only (this is bad) so everyone can bypass SM's point on why she but the draft on hold in the first place. The other two sites you highlight are spot on. They have respected SM request and not posted the draft at all. I guess that is one of the reasons that SM personally supports twilightlexicon.com. GOOD job to them for resisting. How can fan sties betray her and still call themselves fans? Sites that are disrespectful to artist and copyright laws should not get any of our interest, time or attention! Just because SM has HER draft posted on HER site does not give anyone else permission to copy and past or post on their sites (period!). For more information go directly to the source and see how SM feels about people that do these kinds of things with out permission. http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/midnightsun.html

I think the reason that people get so up in arms about Twilight, is that it's more of a guilty pleasure than a thing of substance. As someone else stated, they're not too different from cheap paperback romance novels. There's nothing about them that will appeal to a male audience. It's just something that makes girl squeal, and for what it is, that's fine. It's just that it's suddenly being compared to Harry Potter in terms of popularity, and while it's undeniably popular, it's equally despised by those it doesn't appeal to. At least Harry Potter is universally available to people of all ages and genders.

If you really love Twilight, they yay for you. But don't try and pass it off as something better than it really is. Just because girls love something sexy without substance isn't a bad thing. Men have the same thing. It's called porn. We just don't try and elevate it to something greater than it is. It's just cheap fluff that makes your nether regions tingle.

Crystal M.

Crystal M. on 08-4-2009 01:55 PM

To moviemonkey: Twilight does appeal to all ages. I am in my twenties, my sister is almost 30 and my mom is 50 and we all like it. It is for different age groups and there are many guys who like Twilight. I know at least 5 who like it and are not gay. I am not dissing you because you don't like it I am just telling you facts. If you look at who showed up at comic con or Twicon then you will see older women and men in the audience.

Bigbrother

Bigbrother on 08-4-2009 03:31 PM

Fair enough, I can respect that and agree with most of it. Though I think you sell Twilight a bit short, while it's not say Jane Austen there is a lot worse stuff out there and as I've said the genius of Twilight is how it connects with it's core audience. Lets not forget this was the first series Stephanie Meyer ever wrote. If you've ever read The Host, a sortof Tale of the Body Snatchers with a twist novel she wrote after the Twilight series it's a much more mature work and better illustrates her more traditional skills as a storyteller and doesn't cater as specifically to one demographic. In all honesty I think part of what won me over about Twilight is how much the women in my life enjoyed it, but once you open up your mind to it it's actually a pretty entertaining read. It's not great literature by traditional standards, but really neither were Conan or King Solomon's Mines in their time.
