Synopsis: Millionaire George Wade (HUGH GRANT) doesn’t make a move without Lucy Kelson (SANDRA BULLOCK), his multi-tasking Chief Counsel at the Wade Corporation. A brilliant attorney with a strategic mind,... Millionaire George Wade (HUGH GRANT) doesn’t make a move without Lucy Kelson (SANDRA BULLOCK), his multi-tasking Chief Counsel at the Wade Corporation. A brilliant attorney with a strategic mind, she also has an ulcer and doesn’t get much sleep. It’s not the job that’s getting to her. It’s George. Smart, charming and undeniably self-absorbed, he treats her more like a nanny than a Harvard-trained lawyer – and can barely choose a tie without her help. Now, after five years of calling the shots, on everything from his clothes to his divorce settlements, Lucy Kelson is giving her two weeks notice. Although George makes it difficult for Lucy to leave the Wade Corporation, he finally agrees to let her go – but only if she finds her own replacement. After a challenging search, she hires an ambitious young lawyer (ALICIA WITT) with an obvious eye on her wealthy new boss. Finally free of George and his 24-hour requests, Lucy is ready to change course and join her devoted boyfriend (MARK FEUERSTEIN) on an adventure at sea. Or is she? Confronted with the fact that Lucy is literally sailing out of his life, George faces a decision of his own: is it ever too late to say “I love you”? -- © 2002 Warner Bros. [More]

A really tired affair.

Hugh Grant just grins and grins as if to explain that he knows the material isn't up to par and he's just along for the ride.

Basically 'The Sandra and Hugh Show,' with the two increasingly forgettable actors coasting on what remains of both their respective personas for a full 90 minutes of dreadful comedy. Even Jackass had better conceived characters than this film.

A perfectly likeable romantic comedy, containing not a single unforeseeable plot twist but featuring a good deal of witty dialogue and amusing interaction between the lead characters.

Romantics will be loyal to this movie, but they are after all “romantics.”

So routine, familiar and predictable, it raises the possibility that it wrote itself as a newly automated Final Draft computer program.

A charming, banter-filled comedy... one of those airy cinematic bon bons whose aims -- and by extension, accomplishments -- seem deceptively slight on the surface.

Dangles hints of witty 1940s screwball classics before us only to snatch them back unfulfilled.

Two Weeks Notice is one of the more shallow romantic comedies of the year, yet also without a doubt one of the most genuinely funny.

This is [Sandra] Bullock and [Hugh] Grant's show all the way, and they make the most out of a tried-and-true formula.

Even more than last week's Maid in Manhattan, this week's New York comedy is saved from strain by actors it's tough not to like.

Coarse, cliched and clunky, this trifling romantic comedy in which opposites attract for no better reason than that the screenplay demands it squanders the charms of stars Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock.
