After the plot's big turning point, the movie loses its focus and can't decide whether it wants to be a melodrama or a crime thriller.

It's so determined to be classy and nonjudgmental that it feels sealed off from real emotions, and, as a result, the people in it bear approximately the same relationship to actual people as wax fruit does to an apple.

'Unfaithful' cheats on itself and retreats to comfortable territory. Too bad.

It's an ill movie that bloweth no man to good.

What's curious about Unfaithful is just how little it pops.

We end up hot but not bothered. It's the bothered part that good films examine.

Several uninteresting, unlikeable people do bad things to and with each other in "Unfaithful." Why anyone who is not a character in this movie should care is beyond me.

Devolves...from bland diversion into some truly unsettling sexual politics, and tumbles from that already low plateau into an ersatz In the Bedroom.

Adrian Lyne has a chance to twist Unfaithful into a subtle psychological puzzle (but he's) far more interested in psychosexual sensationalism...

We've seen this story more times than Connie screws Paul and...is the equivalent of watching the Lifetime channel on the Champs d'Elyses.

I think Lyne was looking for a way to get a sophisticated babe like Lane as naked as possible. Sure, honey, it's art.

As a dramatic, erotic, romantic, existential (or not) thriller, Unfaithful almost but not quite succeeds.

'Lo que vale el precio es la estupenda actuación de Diane Lane, quien encarna a la perfección el prototipo de mujer moderna con una sólida interpretación'

Attraction director Adrian Lyne returns to the theme of adultery with Unfaithful, which -- despite a wonderful performance by Diane Lane -- is not nearly as thrilling, sexy or even believable as its predecessor.

Looking for a laugh? Unfaithful, a study of adultery, murder, guilt and unresolved endings, provides more than a few.

After posing a moral dilemma worthy of serious consideration, [Lyne] resorts to genre solutions. That worked in Fatal Attraction, which resolved itself as a horror film, but it doesn't work here.

Despite some fine, nuanced acting, Unfaithful doesn't get much deeper than a romance novel.
