Shearing tickles the right spots by applying just what is needed for maximum effect.
A dark and discomfiting comedy of sexual insecurity, this scruffy mockumentary about a couple's odyssey through sex therapy marks the feature-film debut of documentary-trained writer and director Leslie Shearing.
An erotic pic that punches into the national uptightness about sexual dysfunction.
As Shearing and company poke fun at our national anxiety over sexual dysfunction, they also send up our perverse eagerness (exemplified by courtroom television and show-all documentaries) to let it all hang out for public consumption.
Offers enough laughs to please even those who don't usually venture into downtown art houses.
Bold on the surface, squeamish underneath and utterly lacking in erotic warmth, Unscrewed could well perpetuate the very dysfunction it purports to address so fearlessly.
A funny film that pokes fun at the specialists in mind, body and soul who peddle wisdom about sex in today's excessive self-improvement marketplace.
