How did Michael Giacchino NOT win for Up? That is insane.

Realistically, UP should have been nominated for every single category and won for each one, but I guess it wouldn't be fair to the others. I think Ed Asner deserved a nominator for Best Voice Actor (and perhaps a win), but Jen Cody did a very good job voicing Charlotte in TPATF. Also, Giacchino definitely should have won for UP, but it's all good. We all know he's going to win the Oscar for it.

After last year I don't quite trust the Annies. Kung-Fu Panda won everything and WALL-E nothing? I heard Dreamworks bought its wins (remember, anyone can be a member, and it doesn't cost that much). That said, good for Up and The Princess and the Frog.

Well, in-order to vote in the Annies, you have to pay a fee. Up until last year, anyone could have joined, Dreamworks took advantage of it and paid membership fees for every employee to vote for Kung-Fu Panda. Once the Annies found out, it was WAY too late.

Day-yum. I hope they changed the requirements for eligibility (like having been a member for at least five years).

Happy to see that Up didn't totally sweep. As fantastic a film as it was, Mr. Fox deserves oodles of recognition for being fantastic (see what I did there?). Princess and the Frog was stunning and deserved the visual awards.

Giacchino being snubbed kind of ruins the legitimacy of the entire situation, though.

Annie Awards are the real deal for animation. Which is why the Oscar award, Best Animated Feature, is an abomination and shamefully repulsive award only meant to keep great animated movies from getting Best Picture nominations.

But, I still love the Annies. A lot of people complained when "Kung Fu Panda" beat "WALL-E" for Best Animated Feature at the Annies, but you know what? They're BOTH great. So relax.

I'm with ya' on that one, Ledawg. Sure, I would have given it to Wall-E, but Kung-Fu Panda is the best animated feature to come out of Dreamworks to date, IMO. Instead of complaining about who won, everyone should be happy that we're getting more than one quality animated feature per year (this year included).

Up won? Did Pixar buy them off or did the hate-mail they got for Kung Fu Panda cause them to play nice this year?

Wow good choices.
The only films I did not like here:

looks like The Princess and the Frog won the most with UP following it

Meh...Up is a fine film, but the crop of stop motion animated films were leaps and bounds more inventive in every way. Coraline and Fantastic Mr. Fox deserve top honors. Up is boilerplate Pixar, which is usually better than anything else, but certainly not this year.

I love Pixar films, yet won't be excited about another one until the relentless sequels subside. Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 don't interest me. If they're going to do a sequel it should be the Incredibles.

I know that this isn't that important, but I totally agree with the comments about Pixar.

Unfortunately, Brad Bird has no intension of making Incredibles 2. Everything needed to poke fun and homage to was put in the film, only thing left out is tights or no tights. People often say it needs a sequel because of the ending, which all it really was a homage to the Fantastic 4's first villain, The Mole Man.
