As the nation's oldest federal law enforcement agency, the U.S. Marshals Service has held an esteemed place in the American public imagination for over 200 years. Actor James Farentino narrates this three-part documentary series that takes an investigative look at the real-life work of these legendary law enforcement officials. The first episode, "Mission in Mississippi," examines the role of U.S. Marshals in desegregating the American South throughout the 1960s. The second episode, "Inside the L.A. Office," follows a team of Los Angeles Marshals as they pursue two cases from the initial stages of evidence-gathering through to final arrests. And the third episode, "Hunters & Protectors," offers a thorough summary of the Marshals' overall duties, which include tracking down fugitives, transporting federal prisoners, enforcing court orders, seizing criminal assets, running the Witness Protection Program, and more.
