First Valkyrie Pic Revealed
Show me your photos!

Discuss Article
The release date's still a ways off, but the first image of Tom Cruise in Valkyrie has already made its way onto the interwebs.

Starring Cruise as Col. Claus von Stauffenberg and with direction by Bryan Singer from a Christopher McQuarrie script, Valkyrie follows Stauffenberg as a turncoat within the Nazi empire.  Shooting began today in Germany, and this photo depicts Cruise with (presumably) the briefcase bomb intended for Hitler.

Valkyrie
will be out August 8, 2008. But, for now, let us behold Nazi Tom with eye patch.

By the way, how many have noticed IMDb currently listing Valkyrie as Rubicon?

I just think he looks a little silly in this particular picture, however I have complete confidence in the movie.

Tom is a very talented actor, and if you check his movies on rotten tomatoes, most are certified fresh, reiterating the fact, that most often than not, his movies are good too.

Looks like a still shot from some gay Nazi WWII porno film. Is the eyepatch covering up that lazy eye working overtime in A FEW GOOD MEN. Seriously though, Cruise is no longer a revelant actor. His public flaunting of percieved importance shows that the man is nothing more than a by-product of Hollywood.

So in other words, gratefuldawg, your not a fan of film... Just the persons life outside it defines their work. I see, so let me get this straight. A film is supposed to take us to another place, being a different genre is a different place; it allows us to escape reality for that very moment when all is down. Yet, a persons real character out side their work is supposed to effect the escapism that film lets us have? I'm a bit confused here.

Nevermind that Tom Cruise is starring in this movie (which who I think is a terrific actor), but this movie also marks a long-awaited reunion for "Usual Suspects" director and writer, Singer and McQuarrie. Doesn't come out for awhile, but looks fairly decent so far.

So you would be quite happy watching a paedophile portray someone else on the big screen as long as YOU were immersing yourself into the fantasy of film!!!
I know he isn't a paedophile, I am making a point and that point is that your logic is flawed :)

Actually your logic is flawed because Cruise who we're referencing hasn't done anything criminal. Being odd is still not a crime in most countries of the world. As long as he makes entertaining movies he can be as weird as he wants to be off it within criminal limits of course.

Cruise is one of the best actors in Hollywood today. Hopefully he'll get the accent right.

"a terrific actor" in my opinion, is someone who is versatile and has the ability to really disappear into their role and actually "become" their character. gary oldman is the first example that comes to my mind, but of course there are many others. whenever i watch a tom cruise movie, i immediately know i'm watching tom cruise. don't get me wrong, he's been in plenty of good movies, i just feel he has very little range and is more of a "movie star" than an actor.
