Somewhere along the way, the filmmakers lost sight of what made the original Vacation funny. It wasn't the actual goal... but the journey.

Reviews for Vegas Vacation
There should be a self-help group where insecure people make themselves feel better by constantly repeating: "He's Chevy Chase and I'm not."
Why, if [Chevy] Chase is such a funny guy, does he make such unfunny movies?
The central idea of the series -- even normal families aren't normal -- apparently isn't completely exhausted yet. I'm surprised at how much I liked this film.
It's simply so lacking in attempts at humor that Chase might have had a better chance at coming up with a winner playing a slot machine.
Chase unrolls his tired collection of mugs and stumbles, while some truly funny performers - particularly Sid Caesar and the usually reliable Wallace Shawn - are wasted in do-nothing roles.
