ROH5150 writes: on Jun 18 2009 07:53 PM WRONG!!! But this is a very important review. You need to understand that this is actually FROM 1958. I've always heard that Vertigo was misunderstood when it was first released, but i've never actually seen a review from that period. This almost feels historical! (Reply to this) |

ROH5150 writes: on Jun 18 2009 07:55 PM P.S: I need to reinforce the fact that this review is misguided. Vertigo is one of the best movies ever made. For my money, it IS the finest movie ever made. (Reply to this) |

jackane24 writes: on Jul 20 2009 04:56 PM There are very few films that you could make a shot for shot remake of nowadays and still be left with a phenomenal film. Vertigo is one of them. (Reply to this) |

Lightwizard writes: on Oct 06 2009 08:51 AM There was the same knee-jerk negative response to "Blade Runner" when first released and "Vertigo" was one of the films that slipped into the estate conflict until the 90's. Also "BR" has had several incarnations, "Vertigo" was only touched by a faithful restoration and is number two on Sight and Sound Magazine (BAFTA) poll of international film critics and historians. The first viewing is often still deceiving (well, of course!) but watching it more than one times reveals the metaphysical influence on destiny and fate. One of the most eerily, heat-stopping shots is in this film -- Kim Novak coming out of the green haze of the blinking neon sign outside the hotel window to reveal...well, you have to see this film. Matt R. writes: on Oct 20 2009 08:26 PM I can't fathom anyone who claims enough knowledge of film to find a job as a film critic actually giving Vertigo a bad review. I mean I understand that reviews are subjective; but its freaking Vertigo! The cinematography is brilliant, the directing is brilliant, the writing is brilliant, the acting is brilliant, its damn near perfect in every way. I can grasp someone consider it being overrated even though I'd strongly disagree; but going so far as to call it a bad film? Madness, utter madness. (Reply to this) |
