Movie Info

Actor/filmmaker Mark Peranson documents his experiences working on director Albert Serra's 2008 drama Birdsong, in the process capturing the moment of creative conception as rarely seen onscreen before. A devoted fan of Catalan filmmaker Serra's previous films Crespiá and Honor of the Knights, Peranson jumped at the opportunity to essay the role of Joseph, father of Jesus, in the director's latest production - a vivid dramatization of the three kings' journey to Bethlehem. As Peranson arrives on the majestic Canary Mountains and filming gets underway, he arms himself with an HDV camera and quietly observes the director's attempt to fully realize the film that is, at the moment, little more than loosely organized sketches on random pieces of paper. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovimore
