mcwf1 writes: on Mar 14 2008 07:00 AM I can't lie - I've been looking forward to Wall-E since I saw the teaser. There's something about objects that shouldn't have emotions or thoughts, that I find hilarious. Pixar has always been exceptionally good at making very likable characters out of things like pillows and lamp shades. I'll be there opening weekend for sure. Speed Racer could be entertaining, but I was hoping for a lot more. The CGI looks unfinished (hopefully) so I'm praying for a bit better quality. The feel of it just seems... off to me. donwillymo writes: on Mar 14 2008 08:19 AM I thought it was just Speed Racer that was gay, but in fact it is Emile Hirsch thats gay. Put that baby to rest. (Reply to this) |

Young Turk writes: on Mar 14 2008 08:22 AM What does either of them being gay have to do with anything? The movie still looks like a bunch of toy cars with bad special effects. (Reply to this) |

mouse_clicker writes: on Mar 14 2008 08:33 AM "The movie still looks like a bunch of toy cars with bad special effects." Well, the TV show looked like a bunch of toy cars with bad animation-- I'd say the movie hit the nail on the head! (Reply to this) |
romsy writes: on Mar 14 2008 08:34 AM Hey, Young Turk, have you ever watched speed racer? The cars never looked remotely realistic, they always were outlandish and ridiculous, sorry but people expecting nascars to zoom across the screen will be disappointed. It's a movie based of a cartoon, therefore expect it to be made for families and kids with bright colors and little stupid gags. Not made for you, creepy sci-fi guy that lives in his parents basement, go back to watching Stargate Atlantis. Oh and wall-e looks amazing. (Reply to this) |

donwillymo writes: on Mar 14 2008 08:34 AM I'd **** Christina Ricci good too. (Reply to this) |

donwillymo writes: on Mar 14 2008 08:36 AM ...pull her hair and stick it in her ***...how's that for family romsy (Reply to this) |

scaryneedles writes: on Mar 14 2008 08:52 AM In reply to this comment (#1631925) I love bright colors and stupid gags, bright colors are awesome and stupid gags have done nothing to offend. And yes, Wall-E does look amazing, and it will probably also have a lot of smart gags in it, which are awesome too. (Reply to this) |

Introducing.. writes: on Mar 14 2008 08:54 AM Wall-E looks epic, and Speed Racer looks better than I initially thought. This will definitely be a very interesting summer for movies... (Reply to this) |

minderbinder writes: on Mar 14 2008 09:07 AM Wall*e looks amazing, probably the best pixar trailer I've ever seen (although I'll admit they often do trailers that undersell the movie). Speed Racer looks insane and utterly cartoony...and I'm totally OK with that. They obviously didn't even try to go for anything realistic, and I think that's a totally valid choice, not to mention pretty appropriate for the show. Trixie's helicopter and pilot outfit are a riot. (Reply to this) |

trpsomewhere writes: on Mar 14 2008 09:40 AM I thought speed racer looks awesome! and absolutely close to the TV show! Looking forward to it! (Reply to this) |

leaf71 writes: on Mar 14 2008 09:45 AM I'd have to say colour me excited about Speed Racer. Totally looks like manga anime made real-ish. I was somewhat sold on the teaser, but this trailer gets me into the IMAX theatre, front row. Go Speed Racer Go? F|_|ck yeah! (Reply to this) |
trpsomewhere writes: on Mar 14 2008 09:49 AM In reply to this comment (#1632021) uhh? Front row at IMAX?!?! Buddy, you don't wanna sit there... trust me... sit as far back as you can! lol (Reply to this) |

OperaGhost21 writes: on Mar 14 2008 09:56 AM Speed Racer looks like a live action F-Zero. Nicccccccccccccccccccccce. (Reply to this) |
danielfrohlich writes: on Mar 14 2008 10:22 AM I didn't like speed racer the tv show and thus, I probably won't like the movie all too much. (Reply to this) |

MarkMortimer writes: on Mar 14 2008 11:25 AM Speedracer looks lame, nuff said. (Reply to this) |
walkingdead09 writes: on Mar 14 2008 11:44 AM I liked the speed racer cartoon, and am not expecting them to make Speed Racer and Racer X, like the matrix, if that is what you are expecting, realize this IT IS a kids movie. Be no different if the Coens did a live action Smurfs movie and you expect NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. Wise up. And Romsy, well said. (Reply to this) |

donwillymo writes: on Mar 14 2008 02:02 PM I love you all see ya on Monday...thats my shift (Reply to this) |

Bear45 writes: on Mar 14 2008 03:39 PM Never seen the Speed Racer cartoon, but the trailer looks awesome! Ricci doesn't look so awesome though. Never has, really... (Reply to this) |
smi1ey writes: on Mar 14 2008 03:43 PM i thought the first speed racer trailer was crap. that second actually gave me a slight to tug to go see it. amazing how a trailer can effect how much you want to a see a movie so much. wall-e is a definite must either way. (Reply to this) |
Crusader07 writes: on Mar 14 2008 05:02 PM Wow, they both look great! Walle looks so much better than I even hoped. Can't wait. (Reply to this) |
SnakeJake writes: on Mar 14 2008 06:13 PM I absolutely adore Wall-E! I've seen the trailer about ten times now and I keep showing it to colleagues and friends. It is so cool AND adorable. And the animation just can't be better. I love how they simulate jerky camera and out of focus. How can you make animation look like Jackass?! I might go see Speedracer, just 'cause I feel sorry for the Wachowskis. (Reply to this) |
nathanpoitras writes: on Mar 14 2008 07:14 PM It's a pretty safe bet, but I'm calling it anyway, Wall-E will be one of the very best movies of 2008. There's Pixar, and then there's everyone else. Can't wait. (Reply to this) |
IvanGDee writes: on Mar 14 2008 10:31 PM emile does not seem fit for the role and the helmet looks ridiculous. hope he does not have it on throughout the movie. eeeehhh it seems enjoyable. (Reply to this) |
Dinobot77 writes: on Mar 15 2008 12:21 AM I am scared that Speed Racer will be a cross between the Matrix and the Flintstones. If it is, then it will suck big fat hairy balls. Wall*E on the other hand looks amazing and should be one of the best movies this year. Pixar has never disappointed in both animation quality and story depth and quality. (Reply to this) |
dethburger writes: on Mar 15 2008 02:47 AM The cool thing about Speed Racer is back when it first came out around the early 70's it was the only cartoon where people actually died. (or kids show for that matter) Think about it, that was pretty wild for the era that ushered in Scooby-Doo, HR Puffinstuff and The Brady Bunch...I'm mean, c'mon...PEOPLE DIED! That was pretty darn cool back in the day. (Reply to this) |
gerke writes: on Mar 16 2008 09:30 AM i don't think speedracer could do good outstide the states (maybe japan) the cartoon is not famous at all over the pond so it has to do brilliant domestic cus it looks like an expensive movie. still it could be fun for kids no more. wall-E doens't look exciting but still decent. they should do more incredibles/ action packed cartoons cus the brand isn't what it used to be. (Reply to this) |

RedConverse writes: on Mar 16 2008 02:19 PM Okay, does anybody have any remotely smart to say about Speed Racer, or is everyone just gonna senselessly bash it in some vain attempt to make themselves feel cool? Seriously, people who speak ill about it never have anything valid or intelligent to say. It's always "bright colors and its gay", or "i don't like, so it must completely suck in every way". Some of you should maybe try thinking a bit before you speak. (Reply to this) |

hope524 writes: on Mar 16 2008 10:17 PM Wall-E looks great, but does he talk in the movie? What's always been fun about the Pixar movies is how they give human characteristics AND personality to non-human characters... (Reply to this) |
