Still feeling the buzz from The Dark Knight trailer? (Or -- if you caught an IMAX screening or were quick on the YouTube prowl -- the six-minute preview?) Well, keep your phasers on "stun" because we just received the exclusive WALL·E trailer! The latest gorgeously animated opus from Pixar looks to sustain the high bar 2008 has so far set for itself.

It's the year 2700 and humans have fled for greener pastures in the nether reaches of space, while WALL·E has spent the last 700 years on Earth organizing garbage into stacks of compressed cubes. But throughout the course of the movie Pixar promises (with the poetically vague tagline) that the little robot that can will "discover what he was meant for."

In addition to the footage seen in previous teasers, this trailer shows off new scenes of WALL·E goofing around with human knickknacks, like a bra and fire extinguisher. Pixar remains tight-lipped on the specifics of the plot, but we're rather confident the arrival of that gigantic spaceship will have something to do with it.

What can I say except I'm still excited?

...High bar 2008 has set for itself, eh? To be honest, nothing really comes to mind about 2008 as far as movies go except Wall-E, The Dark Knight, Cloverfield, and The Incredible Hulk. 2009 is when the excitement begins, in my opinion, if solely for the arrival of Avatar (even if it is at the year's end).

Wow talk about a whole lot of nothing - that felt like it was almost the exact same preview as the one from months and months ago. Not that I mind too much - I would rather them show just a little and leave the movie some surprises - but when a new trailer gets the headline-article treatment I expect a little more from it.

Me, I'd take Hulk off my list (hell, I find Jubilee more interesting than him). Put on my list: Iron Man, Indiana Jones, Pineapple Express, Harold and Kumar, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, X-Files 2 (starting to worry about that project though), and (I just can't resist) Speed Racer.

Seeing as everyone is giving there opinion on most-anticipated movies of 2008, I am proud to say that Cloverfield (in my opinion) is the most anticipated of all of them (followed VERY closely by The Dark Knight). Cloverfield comes out on my birthday, so I've been hitting the walls for about 6 and a half months now.

As far as Wall-E goes... I can't wait. It looks great!

Yeah I'm not really that interested in any of those films and no I'm one of those RTers who dislikes hollywood in general either. Wall-E looks decent enough but truth be told I haven't seen anything in the promotional material other than the Pixar logo that makes me really excited about this film.

It looks fun. Better than CARS, in any event.

The opening PIXAR logo scene was great - and that WALT DISNEY logo looks fantastic too.. that could be older, but man! The castle has never looked better!

So is it me or does WALL-E make a lot of R2D2 noises?

But I really like this trailer. It doesn't give away much but 'does' give you a feel of the flick's tone, and an idea of what the title character is like, which is all you should really have this far away from release.

The bit at the end with the satellites made me laugh.

At the very least Pixar probably made everything very vague to the fate of the Earth and let people jump to their own conclusions as to what happened (global warming?). So far from the story everything seems really symbolic. For instance the way Wall-E picks up junk all day can represent a poor schmo that is stuck with the same dead-end job till he decides to find something better.

Yeah, Ben Burtt is the sound designer as well as one of the voices for this movie. He was sound designer for the Star Wars films and of course created the sounds for R2-D2 as well as the lightsabers, blasters, Wookies, etc.

It's great to see him part of a Pixar production considering that Pixar was started by ILM and LucasFilm. It's sort of come full circle.
