Even with the just the shorts on the playbill, this sucker is a surefire purchase. But Maltin's insights and the few bonuses Disney has provided only underscore what a winner this thing is.

Four "Lonesome Ghosts" looking to make some mischief call upon a band of ghost hunters. The hunters are played by Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. This classic Disney short follows a familiar formula established for the cartoons starring all three characters. Bring them all into a silly situation, then divide them up for solo adventures. It's great to watch Mickey - carrying a rifle to blow the ghosts away, I guess - and Donald engage in their individual fights, but the funniest sequence belongs to Goofy. First he and a ghost are part of a mirror gag that looks to be inspired by the Marx Brothers' "Duck Soup", then he winds up fighting himself while trapped inside a dresser. Our heroes finally wind up with the upper hand, of course. The biggest problem with the cartoon is Disney's tendency to make character voices unintelligible. The ghosts are next to impossible to understand, and Mickey and Donald have their own vocal problems. They don't distract from the entertainment of the film, however. The short is a lot of fun, and may have even helped inspire another movie starring a group of Ghostbusters. (Goofy even says at one point, "I ain't scared of no ghosts.")
