With the exception of a few lovely scenes, it's a hollow and bombastic piece of work, clobbering you over the head with its epic-ness when it's not cinematically yanking at your nosehairs in the hopes that you'll cry.
LMAO! So true! I wrote:
Cinematically well-executed, visually inspiring, and a good story overall. That is where the positive ends for me. HORRENDOUS acting. This movie needed a linguist coach so bad it made my head hurt. It had so much potential but Spielberg ruined it with barely passable acting, a stilted dialog wallowing in it's own saccharine diatribe. I want my money back. This movie should be redone with a good director.
