He wasn't the right director for it anyway. I like Raimi, but he has a flair for the cheese and it wouldn't work well with World of Warcraft.

quite a few people here "Strongly Disliked" Raimi's contributions in the Spiderman franchise; naturally they would not favor Raimi's involvement in World of Warcraft. Well, Sam Raimi indicates that his "mentor" is Steven Spielberg and Raimi says his goal is to emotionally uplift his audiences . . . yet, audiences today seem to feel like that are being manipulated when a director tries to uplift them. (its SAGE STALLONE REMEMBRANCE MONTH-- Sage Stallone CO-FOUNDED Grindhouse Releasing and brought us CANNIBAL FEROX, THE BEYOND, and CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST)

I would say that's inaccurate. Most people loved Spiderman 1&2, they just didn't appreciate Spiderman 3.
Jul 20 - 02:37 AM
ain't like we need a damn World of Warcraft film anyway...
Jul 19 - 01:01 AM
Better than some of the crap they pump out these days, if done right.
Jul 19 - 06:33 AM
That's just it. "Some of the crap" wouldn't be "some of the crap" if it was done right. No guarantees.
Also, I blame Sturgeons' Law.... and Sturgeon.

Where's "The Passion of Leeroy Jenkins"?
Jul 19 - 08:57 AM
It got nerfed.
Jul 21 - 01:12 PM
Shit. I would have loved to see Raimi dip into campy fantasy goodness. WOW does not deserve or necessitate a gritty realistic film portrayal. This could have been awesome.
Jul 19 - 10:04 AM
It would have been terrible. While it doesn't have to be gritty and realistic, it's certainly no episode of Xena:Warrior Princess either.
Jul 19 - 10:14 PM
It's faux anime with no distinguishing characteristics (Horde, Alliance, orcs, elves, dragons, wizards, Battle of the Billion Mary Sues, rinse, repeat). It would become that Dungeons & Dragons movie all over again. Terry Gilliam would be its only savior.
Jul 21 - 01:21 PM
You obviously have no knowledge of the material, and if you have ever seen one of the cinematics you would also know it's nothing like anime.
Jul 21 - 10:13 PM
Naturally, if you want to speak generally about anime, no it doesn't. But specifically in design, between the engorged features, overpadded equipment, and large scale theatric action, it follows the lines of the more popular anime (sent to America, at the least). It's less 5 Centimeters per Second and more Digimon.
Jul 22 - 04:00 PM
The Warcraft 3 cinematics were serious, but WoW is basically just a lorelol themepark full of pop-culture jokes.
