If ever there's a part 2, a sequel will be much better I think. R doesn't want a view of his past life and if it's a prequel, its Julie & the little Franco that will lead. Your opinion?
I honestly don't see what would happen in a sequel, they already cured the zombies and the humans are living again so what next? A prequel would be good but we want to see the characters together again not divided as their past lives.
Isaac Marion, the author of the book, wrote a prequel novella that's available as an ebook called "The New Hunger". It basically follows the main characters during the beginning of the outbreak.
He's also started working on a sequel, but it has no title or release date yet.
A sequel/prequel can't be possible without a great script I think. A prequel based on what Isaac Marion wrote might find less audience since the wm fans would surely hope for more of the romcom between R and Julie. If it's a sequel, the film might just be another generic love affair rather than sweet zom-com w/c made it a hit.
You're right, I don't think "The New Hunger" would work as a film. Audiences like the relationship between R and Julie and would want to see more of that, not a film that takes place before they ever met.
Isaac Marion's still writing a sequel which could possibly become a good film sequel. But the book won't be out for another year at the least, so there's no telling how that could work out.
I'd hope it would a prequel. And there could be a back to back of R's life and Julie's. I'd like to know how the zombie thing got started. But sequels/prequels could either make or break the whole series. If there is one, I hope it's as good or possibly better than Warm Bodies.
