Myers Considers Revisiting SNL Characters
With "Wayne's World" reigning as the most successful movie to come from the "Saturday Night Live" stable of characters, Mike Myers tried to launch other films like "Sprockets," which fell apart years ago. But he has not ruled out a Dieter movie, or even a film with the Coffee Talk Lady.
"Nothing's dead," Myers said. "There is no committee that meets and has a five year plan. It's much more informal than that."
Perhaps his ideas are too avant-garde for Hollywood. "The way I would want to do the Dieter movie would be super crazy low budget. I'd want to do it like on camera phone or something. Something that is more apt to it, or on Etch-a-sketch or something. That's what I would like for it."

Right now though, Myers is busy creating new characters. "The Coffee Talk lady movie I could do. I love doing the character but I have so many planes that are circling the airport. An average film takes 60 months between the first idea and it being on a screen. I actually am faster than that, because I create it and then I write it and it's on the average about 36 months between, 'Hmm, I wonder' and it being on the screen."

It could show what happens to burnouts who amout to nothing in the world only now they are middle aged!!! It sounds harsh but I think that if Mike Myers and Dana Carvey reunite than its you know it will be awesome and a success...maybe just to the stoners though....I'm down. (Reply to this) |

Ron_Burgundy writes: on May 25 2007 02:19 PM After they effectively ended the Austin Powers franchise by making Austin and Evil brothers, I always thought they could do one more and make it a road trip movie with the two of them plus Mini-Me travelling across the country and getting into all sorts of silly adventures. IMAmoose24 writes: on May 25 2007 03:23 PM Wyane's World 3 could definately work. Sure the 2nd was not as good as the 1st, but it had it's moments. I think Dana need's it most of all. His carrer has gone nowhere. BRING BACK WAYNE AND GARTH! (Reply to this) |

bribios writes: on May 25 2007 04:44 PM Another Waynes world or a Dieter movie could both be good. I can't even imagine how you could turn coffee talk into more than a 5 minute segment. Even then it was mostly the same jokes over and over anyway. (Reply to this) |

ossimer writes: on May 26 2007 07:41 AM Another way... ..to say the creative well has run dry. The possibilties of Wayne's World 3 are pretty funny, but those other characters are grating after about 3 minutes, and that's being polite. And, as another Canadian (responding to the earlier post), I, too, am sick of him mentioning Canada-and especially the Maple Leafs. Just shut the hell up. (Reply to this) |

Neonknight writes: on May 26 2007 09:01 PM I honestly hope they don't do a "Coffee Talk Lady" movie. Most great SNL sketches make for horrible movies (with the possible exception of the "Wayne's World" movies). I'm thinking however, that Myers is drawing his "low budget" Dieter movie idea from Borat. Myers is a very talented comic and should stick with creating new characters instead. A third Wayne's World doesn't sound like a bad idea though. (Reply to this) |
