For lovers of tearjerkers, this tale blends a Christmas fable with a cautionary subtext about nuclear holocaust. When his 10-year-old son, Pascal, becomes fatally ill with leukemia after accidentally being exposed to atomic fallout, wealthy French-American businessman Laurent discovers that he has never really known his boy.
