Distracted by his wife's alleged infidelities, Roger is one falling anvil away from being fired -- and studio head R.K. Maroon wouldn't mind hastening the process. So the befuddled bunny hires down-and-out detective Eddie Valiant to help him get back the sultry, bosomy Jessica Rabbit. At first Valiant refuses -- he's got his own reasons for hating the 'toons. The opening cartoon upstages the movie that emerges from it.

While flawlessly delivered, it's overkill -- so loud and excessive, it makes our head swim.

The real stars are the animators, under British animation director Richard Williams, who pull off a technically amazing feat of having humans and Toons seem to be interacting with one another.

Yet with all that, Zemeckis' $70 million technical tour de force doesn't get pulled down in the undertow of its own cleverness.

It's still a superb film, a rare big budget blockbuster that concentrates on a clever story, crisp performances, and brilliant jokes while using its groundbreaking special effects only as window dressing rather than as the main event.

Hoskins está fabuloso, e deveria ter sido indicado ao Oscar. O roteiro decepciona ao não explorar totalmente o potencial do projeto e ao criar uma trama policial pouco interessante. No geral, porém, tem chances de virar clássico.
