Star Trek Into Darkness
A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III
The Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory Blu-ray is a charming presentation of an overrated childhood benchmark.
It's an uneven film -- the ending, in particular, feels like the last-minute affair it was -- but one whose slight undercurrent of darkness and danger feels wonderfully refreshing in this era of bubble-wrapped entertainment...
Who can deny that the film's overall intention is positive, playful fun. The film is a joy. (40th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition, Blu-ray)

Director Mel Stuart [doesn't] shy away from bringing Dahl's unique, slightly twisted vision to the screen intact.

Gene Wilder's take on Wonka is flawless, a near impossible character to improve on.

Until Criterion releases theirversion, I won't complain too loudly. It's definitely worth a purchase.
