He masterfully seduces the women he selects by analyzing them and swiftly winning their trust. For him, this is not a game. It is a lonely and desperate pursuit for a woman's love he literally cannot live without.

When the body of his latest conquest is found at sea, Steven knows the trail will eventually lead to him and contacts the police under the pretext of aiding their investigation. While Inspector Healey (TIMOTHY SPALL) and Detective Roche (JACK DAVENPORT) pursue their inquiries, Steven has already moved on to his next victim.

Anne Levels (ELINA LOWENSOHN), an intelligent, self-possessed, and moody beauty, proves more of a challenge than Steven ever expected. Anne doesn't give much away and when she thinks she may be in love with this dark stranger, the twinges of doubt continue to keep her heart at bay. At times, Steven thinks she has finally been ensnared by his charms, only to find that she has yet again escaped. Proof of Anne's perfect love is vital to Steven's survival; and her uncertainty is slowly killing him. She must finally decide whether or not to give in to her passions and make the ultimate sacrifice for love. [More]

  • Immortality
  • Jude Law (THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY, EXISTENZ) brings a powerful presence to a dark, mysterious crime thriller in the tradition of THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY and DOUBLE JEOPARDY. Steven (Law) is handsome, successful, charming ... and a lethal master of seduction! By the time the body of his latest conquest is found at sea, Steven has already moved on to his next victim. But as this moody, intelligent beauty (Elina Lowensohn) proves frustratingly elusive, it merely intensifies Steven's impassioned pursuit of a love he literally cannot live without! Stylish, suspenseful, and filled with terrific performances, you'll find this boldly unique thriller to be thoroughly entertaining!

Director Po Chih Leong and cinematographer Oliver Curtis certainly know how to provide visual splendor for this film without much of a pulse.

Any subtlety is lost in the broader superficiality of a work which fails to engage on an emotional level.

A philosophical thriller that's no less intriguing for being murkily theological and ceaselessly artsy.

This film is probably really only best for fans of vampire films or stylish British erotic thrillers.

This pompous and dispassionate piece of vampire business leaves you longing for the ominous mists of Transylvania and midnight.

Wisdom of Crocodiles is a thought-provoking, memorable film that develops into a psychological shell game that leaves the viewer as breathless as the heroine.
