The man who triggered an uproar by uploading an incomplete version of the film has been sentenced to a year. More...
Alex:Hey, brainy directors making comic book movies: Learn the lesson of Gavin Hood and don't approach the genre like you're doing fanboys a favor. You're actually just doing yourself a disservice. Hood, an obviously smart guy with movies like Rendition and Tsotsi, ditches his strengths, takes every opportunity to try to be awesome and instead comes off as pandering and desperate. Obviously excited by the idea of having a special effects budget to tell a bigger story yet having no idea how to put it effectively on screen, Hood gives us stuff that looks OK if ridiculous (twirling mutant laser beam destroys a cooling tower), really bad (bullets hit the ground, obviously digitized dirt burst up), and downright horrible (Wolverine's adamantium claws). Seriously, what was up with the claws? Lawnmower Man quality. More...
Mutants: for good and for and for evil, terror and wisdom, metaphor and good old fashioned gross-out, movies have seen them in all shapes, sizes and skin conditions. The most famous, arguably, are Marvel's X-Men, who've enjoyed four big screen incarnations and an enduring place in the popular mind. This week, the gifted outsiders return in X-Men: First Class, Matthew Vaughn's anticipated prequel that takes the series' characters back to their origins. To celebrate, we've put together a list of 10 of movies' most memorable mutants -- so kick back in the teleportation chamber, pass the radioactive goo... and enjoy. More...

Len Wein is a living legend. Whilst not known around the globe like Stan Lee, mention his name to any comic book aficionado and they'll kneel down and say things like 'we're not worthy'. Wein has been a proud superhero parent for decades -- helping give birth to Swamp Thing, Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus and of course, Wolverine, which he helped create as a foe for The Incredible Hulk. His work in the mid '70s saw a renaissance of the X-Men and a legacy that endures to this day. As an editor, he has worked at both Marvel and DC, and was the man at the helm who helped shape Watchmen. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame in 2008. More...
South African Gavin Hood directed the Oscar-winning Tsotsi but has also knocked about Hollywood, acted in over a dozen movies and, following his political thriller Rendition, got the nod to helm the blockbuster X-Men Origins: Wolverine . Though the film drew mixed reviews, its box office has been enough to set in motion plans for a sequel. Recently we caught up with Hood to ask him about it, and share his thoughts on working with Hugh Jackman, comic book movies, and his admiration for fellow countryman Neill Blomkamp. More...
Did Tim Pocock just deliver a casting scoop, or did he goof up? Either way, he says he's playing Cyclops in the "X-Men: First Class" movie. More...
The new releases in home video this week are definitely a sign that we're approaching the Fall season rather quickly. Most of the notable selections sit squarely within the horror or thriller genre, and the picks we highlight this week reflect that. Aside from the two brand new DVDs dropping this week (X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Next Day Air), we've also got a couple of compilations featuring selections from two horror masters (John Carpenter: Master of Fear Collection and Wes Craven Collection), a couple of quirky genre-benders (Army of Darkness: Screwhead Edition and King Kong vs. Godzilla), and an anthology dedicated to one legendary movie villain (The Hannibal Lecter Collection). But we've also thrown in a couple of alternate choices for everyone else, so have a look! More...

Taylor Kitsch sat down with RT today on the beach in Cannes to share details of his latest project, The Bang Bang Club, in which he plays a photojournalist in post-Apartheid South Africa alongside Ryan Phillippe and Malin Ackerman. While we talked, of course, we couldn't help but ask about his next steps with Gambit, who he played in this year's Wolverine: Origins. Fox wasted no time announcing a movie based on Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool character in the film, but Kitsch seemed unaware that a Wolverine sequel had been given the go-ahead too and he shared his excitement with RT. This week's Ketchup features five new projects for Hugh Jackman following the success of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, two new movies each for Ben Stiller and Ray Stevenson, and new movies for Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson, Keanu Reeves and even... Peter Griffin??? After X-Men Origins: Wolverine opened last weekend to $85 million, it's not surprising that 20th Century Fox is already developing a sequel. On half of the prints in theaters there is a scene after the credits that shows Wolverine drowning his sorrows in a Japanese bar. That scene is indeed intended to be a teaser for Wolverine 2, which will see Logan heading to Japan, a popular and long-running setting for his adventures in the comics. More...

Six sharp adamantium blades kick off the summer movie season as Fox unleashes its most popular comic book character in his own film with X-Men Origins: Wolverine with Hugh Jackman starring and producing. The North American box office is set for the first in a long string of blockbuster openings as major franchise films debut every weekend in the month of May. Also hitting multiplexes this weekend are the romantic fantasy comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner and the animated adventure flick Battle for Terra. Invading over 4,000 theaters domestically and more than 9,000 additional screens internationally in a massive global assault is Wolverine which documents the history of the fan-favorite mutant. More...
This week at the movies, we've got everyone's favorite mutant (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman and Liev Schriber), a rake's progress (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner), and interstellar conflict (Battle for Terra, featuring voice work by Evan Rachel Wood and Luke Wilson). What do the critics have to say? Forced to choose, most X fans would select Wolverine as their favorite. Well, he's got his very own feature film, and unfortunately, the critics say it's a few cuts below the previous X-Men movies. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past has a mildly intriguing premise: what if an unrepentant rake was shown the consequences of his philandering, no-strings-attached ways? More...
As much as audiences love the blockbuster genre of the comic book movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is only the second such adaptation to hit screens in all of 2009. (Can it fare better than the first comic book movie of the year, Watchmen?) While that film's odyssey to the screen was decades-long, Wolvy's beleaguered trip is also nothing to sniff at, overcoming reshoots, publicized debates between director Gavin Hood and Fox, and the recent leak of the Wolverine work print, which was downloaded illegally hundreds of thousands of times. So come Friday, will fanboys be in love? Does Hugh Jackman's reprisal of one of comicdom's most beloved characters hold up? The initial reviews are in, which have sharpened the Tomatometer... to a perfect 100%. More...

And although Sabertooth, Stryker, and Cyclops have been seen on the big screen already, there are new actors playing those roles this time around. That's why we've put together this rundown of the major players you're going to see in the upcoming installment of the X-Men saga. More...
This week's Ketchup has news about sequels to Nanny McPhee, remakes of Piranha and Little Shop of Horrors, a movie version of Father Knows Best and new movies for Kristen Bell, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Megan Fox. X-Men franchise producer Laura Shuler-Donner clarified this week one of the big mysteries and confusions about the upcoming X-Men: First Class project, although given the title and source material, it shouldn't have been a mystery at all. The confusion started when Variety a while back speculated that the movie would focus on the young mutants from the previous movies, like Kitty Pryde, Rogue, Iceman, etc. More...
