An hysterical and an overacted soap opera story.
Great film. I loved the story that seemed to capture the real life relationship between the leads.

I've got no complaints when Clarence Brown directs Greta Garbo. There are many adult themes in this pre-code movie: homosexuality, alcoholism, sex outside of marriage, pregnancy, suicide, syphilis... actually syphilis had to be replaced with "embezzeling" in the movie, which was based on a book called "The Green Hat."
