Fox & Jackman Sign a Deal: "Wolverine" is the Result
by Scott Weinberg | June 10, 2005
Discuss Article
Looks like we'll have just a little bit more of "Wolverine" to kick around once "X-Men 3" comes and goes. Variety reports of a freshly-inked deal between Fox and Hugh Jackman's Seed Productions that will bring the actor a variety of new projects and different characters.

But first, Hugh will act as lead actor and producer in a "Wolverine" spinoff. The actor already has a script, written by David Benioff ("Troy"), that he thinks is rock-solid, so we can expect "Wolverine" to head into production relatively soon. Well, soon after "X3" wraps, anyway.

This is great news, but I'm fearing we'll have yet another neverending discussion about the director...

This has the potential to be really, really, really good. I always loved the pathos and nobility of the Wolverine story. It inspired probably my best character to date, actually.
On the other hand, this also has the potential to be really, really, really disappointing. I hope to Gods its number one that comes true, and not number two.

Hey, that'd be a good title for a superhero movie parody. Keep it in mind, jeanfc

The way Marvels films have headed lately, I won't get my hopes up.

The saturation has begun.

Nothing like Wolverine, in the end. Y'see, I thought it'd be interesting to have a character with no memory but who was violent and unpredictable. In the end I did away with the amnesia part on the grounds that it was too cliche'd, but kept the violent and unpredictable part. What I ended up with was a character called Syrinx Silvereye, who has psychic powers and is the most ambiguous character in my little opus of novels. The reader never really knows if she's good or bad, because the things she does don't fit into either catergory...
If you really want to know more, then visit www.kjtaylor.com and read the novel called 'The Last Thief'. It's one of my best.

the should get Takeshi Miike to direct it. the only way i'll see the movie though is if its at least R rated and bloody as hell.

Origin
Wouldn't mind if it is half as good good as Wolverine: Origin. Little sick boy, James Howlett becomes badass Wolvie. That sounds good, but I doubt they'll be doing that.

I just can't help but feel that this is a redux of what happened in the X-men video game world. A jewel like X-Men Legends comes out, using the whole team, with bastard-child Wolverine spinoff dragging along (X2: Wolerine's Revenge). I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
P.S. I agree. A film version of Origin would be awesome.
