Critic Review -

It uses the themes of the previous movies to build an intelligent, fast-paced, and highly entertaining prequel.

Nice review! Hehe, yeah, Kevin Bacon speaking German (and even a little Russian, later in the film), was a pleasant surprise. Of course I don't speak German so I have no idea if he was any good but it was really gratifying to see him make the effort; I don't think I've ever heard him speak anything other than English in his past movies.

Fassbender and McAvoy were really something. I'm hoping McAvoy's Professor X gets to undergo a richer arc in future installments, though.

X-Men 3 had different writers than First Class and the first two X-Men films in the series. Anachronisms are expected.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I heard it didn't use any themes from the previous movies and that it wasn't a prequel, it's a pre-boot.

I'm afraid this movie pretty much ignored a lot of things from the previous films, so I'm not sure what exactly you're talking about.
