David Duchovny Talks X-Files 2
Surprisingly, there's still no word on Evolution 2.
The truth is out there. And so is the sequel.
David Duchovny is out on the interview trail, promoting the DVD release of The TV Set, which of course means he's spending his days being bombarded with questions about the much-discussed sequel to The X-Files: Fight the Future.
By the end of the show's ninth and final season in 2002, much of the show's audience appeared to be almost as burned out on X-Files as the cast; with the benefit of five years away from the characters, however, interest in extending the franchise has increased, and the impending sequel has already acquired plenty of buzz. In a recent interview with Duchovny, Movieweb was able to ask some questions about the new film. Duchovny's answers, as you might expect, were purposely vague -- but there's still a tidbit or two to be gleaned here.
Well, maybe just one tidbit. The sequel's script is written, according to Duchovny, and filming is imminent:
It's at... the script is written and as far as I know we're all trying to shoot in December at some point. We would all love it if we could keep it a secret and just give everybody a fresh experience of not knowing what the movie's about. I know if I was a fan of the show I would kind of be excited to be surprised.

eastern2western writes: on Sep 26 2007 01:44 PM People, it is time to give up your hope. Duchovny burned his bridges too many times at the show's final seasons. He could have rode the gravy train till the end but he got too greedy and jumped the train too early. Duchovny, it is your greed that ended your career. Without x-files, you are a no body. Duchovny is right...it's better to be surprised and I'll be really surprised when I hear more news about it being developed. The first one wasn't all that bad anyway so let's have another one. Jonnyb writes: on Sep 26 2007 10:58 PM I think it's great that their doing a stand alone piece rather than continuing the tired mythology of the show. I'm sick to death of alien movies. Stick Mulder and Scully in a horror flick and bring on the popcorn! (Reply to this) |
