X-Files Sequel Gets a Release Date
Anderson, Carter, Duchovny filming in Vancouver next month.
It looks like David Duchovny wasn't fooling around about that X-Files sequel -- not only is it really, truly filming soon, but 20th Century Fox has given it an official release date.
According to Variety, Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and X-Files creator Chris Carter are all on board for the next installment, which is set to start filming in Vancouver next month. Carter will direct from a script he co-wrote with series veteran Frank Spotnitz. From the article:
Studio is keeping the film's logline under wraps, but stressed the pic is a stand-alone story and supernatural thriller that takes the complicated relationship between Mulder and Scully in new directions.
Fans won't have to wait much longer to see it, either -- 20th Century Fox has chosen July 25, 2008 for a release date. Mark your calendars!

crystalwhiteeyes writes: on Nov 01 2007 08:40 AM Good! Just as some studios like to reboot old movies, it wouldn't be bad to kick start an old show again. I'll be happy to see this one! Especially since the core group is back. (Reply to this) |

zgberg writes: on Nov 01 2007 09:32 AM I thought the original film was a let-down. It was more of a tangent to the show rather than core storyline. Somehow, it didn't seem to answer any questions. The aliens seemed thrown in for action. It would be nice if they ditch the alien plotline and focus on the carnival freaks (or the lamprey man!) (Reply to this) |

Oedipus&TheMarmishBoys writes: on Nov 01 2007 11:11 AM Whats the point, is there really much demand for another X-files movie. I know it could be called the search for Gillian Anderson's career. (Reply to this) |

RottenRob writes: on Nov 01 2007 12:21 PM In reply to this comment (#1239367) Must there be a demand for movies in order for them to be made? I don't claim to know the motivations of the filmmakers, but why assume that they don't have great ideas and a good story to tell? And also, how do you know that Gillian Anderson's career isn't just fine? Maybe she's had a fine career doing theatre or street performances or something. Maybe she's a very happy and successful seamstress, or perhaps a grave-digger. Or maybe she runs a totally awesome lemonade stand. Maybe she makes robots for the military or does lube jobs for dune buggies. I don't know anything about her life other than a TV show and a movie I saw her in. (Reply to this) |

nevermachine writes: on Nov 01 2007 02:07 PM sweeeet! i love the x-files, and i have been waiting for this movie a long while. and even though i must admit after season 7 the show was mostly useless, it was the grouping of molder and scully that really made the show click. i don't care if this movie turns out to be bad because i will probably like it anyways and i'm just glad to see this movie finally getting a release date. so screw you all guys who never watched the show to begin with, that jump on here and trash talk the hell out of it. I would also think that Gillian Anderson's career is doing fine considering she was just in a movie that won an oscar. (Reply to this) |
