Who's Ready for an "X-Files" Sequel?
Summary
"X-Files" writer Frank Spotnitz seems pretty certain that a second movie version of the cult TV series will happen ... eventually. But there's still the issue of a lawsuit between Fox and X-Creator Chris Carter that has to be ironed out first. Back to Article

And Duchovny is also still very hot among his female fans... I just hope they make the sequel a litte more intersting and more exciting that the first X-files movie-- more in the lines of the better and sharp episodes of the 4th and 5th seasons. Good luck! sokiveta.com writes: on May 19 2006 05:16 AM I'm surprised Gillian Anderson hasn't been in more things since the show. It really seemed like she was rising star. And the episode that she wrote and directed was really well done, she seems very talented on either side of the camera. As a fan of the show, I've got mixed feelings about a stand-alone story with no conspiracy. I guess it makes sense to seperate it from the TV series. What's weird is Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny hate each other in real life. (Reply to this) |

FILMCZY writes: on May 19 2006 08:02 AM As long as the story is new and original and has no ties to the show's conspiracy theory, I'm there. This could be a great franchise if the writers came up with some good, scary stories and didn't feel obligated to satisify those who simple want a big screen version of the TV show like the first film. I really miss the chemistry between Scully and Mulder. (Reply to this) |

TheAnswerMVP2001 writes: on May 19 2006 05:44 PM I have been ready for a sequel ever since the last film, I think they missed the boat in waiting so long, they could have turn The X-files into a nice film series like Star Trek, now who knows how much success it will have. (Reply to this) |

UweBoll writes: on May 20 2006 04:23 AM Good news. The first film was bloody awful, well below the standard of any given episode. And yeah please please please give up the whole aliens/conspiracy theory! I am not sure Gillian Anderson would sign for it though (Reply to this) |

darcko writes: on May 20 2006 04:54 AM I never really cared much for Mulder... his speeches were too preachy for me. But that was probably because I was younger =/ Anyway, yeah, sounds cool. I wonder where in the seriesline (as opposed to storyline *nudge nudge*) this is gonna take place though. (Reply to this) |

DIABLUSX writes: on May 20 2006 11:14 AM I am probably the only one that thinks it was a good idea to wait. This will give time for some left over plot lines to either die/expand as well allow different people to assume diferent roles. You can not be a director/agent forever without moving up/down the ranks or just dieing. (Reply to this) |

renodc writes: on May 20 2006 06:08 PM Not just Me I would love to see this come to fruition, but I have a feeling that no one would love to see this happen more than Anderson and Duchovny. Both have taken career nose dives since the series ended. I saw a dog food commercial yesterday and Duchovny was narrating. Sad!! (Reply to this) |

IneffaBelle writes: on May 22 2006 01:57 AM I'm all smiles at this news. I think that making the movie more standalone is a great idea. That way its not so dependent on all the stuff that happened in the last few seasons which I really wasn't a fan of. This way I can watch the movie and still pretend the show ended around the end of season 6 :oD (Reply to this) |

the_dude_abides writes: on May 23 2006 12:59 PM If Chris Carter is in a legal battle with Fox right now, then there's no way this is coming out before '08. Either way, I am excited. I really like the idea of using the stand-alone episodes for a basis of the 2nd movie, becuase I liked those a whole lot more than the "mythology" episodes. Also, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson don't like eachother in real life? I've never heard that, and I have no idea how they could get the kind of on-camera chemistry they had with a negative working relationship. (Reply to this) |
