"X-Files" Sequel Rushed Before 2008 Strike
David Duchovny can't do an interview without getting asked about "The X-Files." Partly it's his own fault for always insisting that there will be a second "X-Files" movie. Now that he's saying a sequel is looking imminent, he revealed the details.
"I think they are talking about an 'X-Files' movie this week," specified Duchovny. "I’m not just saying that. I know Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz are in there this week with Fox talking about it."
The impetus appears to be a possible strike looming for 2008, setting a deadline for productions. "I guess there are things to figure out. They’re trying to get it done before things. Producers are saying they want to get things done. Yeah, I think it could happen. I hope that it doesn’t. It’s always hard for anybody to win when that happens because people aren’t working so I hope that there can be a resolution."
In the "X-Files" world, Duchovny is game to revisit Mulder and he things Gillian Anderson would be too. "Absolutely, it would be fun. She’ll do it. We’ll all do it. We’re all gung ho and we’re just waiting."

"They’re trying to get it done before things. Producers are saying they want to get things done." Here, I think he's talking about how they're trying to get the X-Files movie made quickly. "Yeah, I think it could happen. I hope that it doesn’t." Here, I think he's talking about a possible (actors?) strike. (Reply to this) |

ck100 writes: on Apr 01 2007 05:58 PM If it were made it would be a sequel that is 10 years too late. Frankly I doubt there is still an audience out there that wants another X-Files movie. Most fans have probably moved on to other things. (Reply to this) |

jackkovack writes: on Apr 01 2007 09:06 PM The movie is not made 10 years too late, only if the movie is lackluster. The x-files still has an audience. I think people would like too see what has happened to these characters after 6 years. Maybe the x-files doesn't even exist anymore but somehow they get pulled into something. This movie has to be better than the last in order to succeed. People will be critical of it at first. Thinking it's some attempt to bring the magic back like rocky or rambo. If this movie is fantastic it will make lots of money. But they can't just make the movie quickly in order to acheive this, if your a fan you'll agree. Theres just so many ideas you could have for it. They need to take it slow and make sure it's done right, which I think they'll do. This is their last shot and they know it. (Reply to this) |

stevegilpin writes: on Apr 02 2007 11:35 AM Hollywood Actors going on strike? Say what?! Only in America, where we wear our greed with pride, would a bunch of overpaid Hollywood punks go on strike! What about the working class (middle and lower) who are getting screwed by the government on a regular basis? I'm only speculating, because I don't know who is going to (possibly) be on strike, but if it's Hollywood actors, I think it's time we send them a message: YOU MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY!! (Reply to this) |

okuonuora writes: on Apr 02 2007 12:21 PM In reply to this comment (#859941) Even if it IS actors striking, 95% of them aren't "overpaid". They work paycheck to paycheck like the rest of us and are very much "working class". It's not like the NBA, where minimum wage is still 6 figures. The Tom Cruises of the world aren't the norm. Gareth writes: on Apr 02 2007 06:17 PM Word going around is that Gllian is opting out and that they are looking at Julianne Moore to replace her. I am waiting to get a second confirmation on this. This is a terrible idea as the chemistry between the two leads is what powers the show. Lets hope it is just a ploy to get an extra 0 on the paycheck. Gareth Skewed and Reviewed (Reply to this) |

highdough writes: on Apr 02 2007 11:43 PM In reply to this comment (#859941) The possible strike is a writers strike. And it's not about getting a raise, it's about residuals, which is extremely important for most creative people that work in Hollywood. And the majority of people who belong to the writers and actors guild don't make much money. Less than 10% of the actors that belong to the guild don't have to have another job in order to support themselves. You think Tom Cruise is affected at all by anything the actors guild woud be fighting for? He writes his own ticket. Most actors and writers don't. They rely on the minimums that these agreements lay out. In fact most actors and writers make less than many working class do. Sorry to burst your bubble. (Reply to this) |

When u find an actor who makes as much as I make let me know (15,000 a year) Shit I barely ride public transportation off of that (Reply to this) |
