I really enjoyed Layer Cake, probaly my favorite film of the year, and was really excited to see Vaugns version of X-3. Personaly reasons, I know those are important, but any amount of money can usually do away with those, huh fox? David Fincher would be pretty good and I'm curious to see what Christopher Nolan does with batman, he could do something hella cool for the X-men franchise.

About Singer-Vaughn-???
According to CNN, Vaughn left because he had to "commute" from London (where his family lives) and Los Angeles throughout a year, and he was not willing to do so. Wow, not a lot of money nor the possibility of directing a movie that could put him on the map and change his career for ever (for the best, I was hoping) could change the mind of this "family man"... Anyway, it's interesting that Fox was going for somebody simmilar to Singer. I mean, when Singer got the X-men project he was a director focused in "small movies". Although he had a big hit with "The usual suspects", this was a small movie, focused on characters and a good story. And so was also "Apt pupil", for example. I think that Vaughn with his "Layer Cake" followed this trend and hopefully so will whoever lands the X-3 project next. It's a good sign to see that Fox understands that the X-saga is about, first and foremost, good characters with complicated stories behind them. Let's pray for the next director to be appointed to follow the trend.

Fox needs to take it easy and not make a hasty decision about this film. Richard Lester destroyed Superman so they need to take it easy before they make a decision they can't live with and destroy the franchise. However I think they should aim for Alex Proyas.

David Fincher(Se7en, Fight Club) or Alex Proyas(Crow, Dark City)

Please no Bryan Singer ... I dont think he did a very good job with the 1st two movies. Sure they were somewhat fun, but he didnt make you emotioanlly connect to any of the characters , and the movies will not stand the test of time.

Hmmm maybe Genndy Tartakovsky - the guy who directed Star Wars: Clone Wars...

I really like the idea of Luc Besson. That would be a god send for the x-men series.

Luc Besson seems more into producing than directing these days...

I agree that fincher would be an awesome, and I think alex proyas would be a perfect fit for this film. His adaptation of the crow was one of the best comic book adaptations ever. and dark city was an amazing film as well

Ain't-It-Cool-News has learned that 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios have narrowed the position for X-Men 3 director down to two names. Matthew Vaughn left the production earlier this week due to personal reasons.

The site says that the director's chair will either go to John Moore, who helmed both "Behind Enemy Lines" and "Flight of the Phoenix" for Fox, or to Brett Ratner, best known for the "Rush Hour" films and who has also directed such films as "After the Sunset" and "Red Dragon".

Stay tuned for when one of these names will be confirmed.

They're not going to be able to pick and choose from a stable of great directors when they begin shooting in 9 weeks.

Looks like AVP all over again.
