Year One is nowhere near as funny as the ancient-civilization movies I saw in high school: Life of Brian, History of the World Part I, Caligula. Its script isn't worth the papyrus it's inscribed on.
Oh wow Kyle, you were into some really cool movies in high school. You're way too evolved to enjoy something as trivial as this. Is it just me or does this guy sound like an ******* in every one of his reviews?

Kyle, I happen to agree with you on a large portion of this review - a rarity, truly. But Caligula? Really? Really, Kyle?

You think being a "top critic" makes you super clever. It really just makes you a tool. The movie was good. Not great, but it was amusing and you had to criticize it for the sake of being smug. Your review isnt "worth the papyrus its inscribed on." Corny line btw. You are definitely a much better writer than the guy who wrote year one (sarcasm just in case you couldnt pick up on it)

"you had to criticize it for the sake of being smug"Maybe he criticized it because it sucks, and you have no taste?Just offering a counter alternative. Now back to your insecure ramblings.

A tool response is always welcome. I have no taste. If they had a critic who actually represented my generation they would realize that the movie targeted a different audience. it wasnt made to top life of brian or even compete. its just a movie. life of brian was monty pythons worst movie and people still worship it. get over yourself

Wow Im amazed this many are upset about a Jack Black movie getting a bad review. The guy hasnt been funny since he was in the tenacious D movies.

Life of Brian is a brutal standard to hold any movie up to.

Comparing Caligula to a comedy is like comparing Michael Bay to a director.

I wish Caligula was a monty python movie, then it would be hilarious.
