Synopsis: Two average guys who are mistaken for World Trade Organization representatives accept invitations to attend international meetings and make TV appearances on behalf of the U.S. They are the Yes... Two average guys who are mistaken for World Trade Organization representatives accept invitations to attend international meetings and make TV appearances on behalf of the U.S. They are the Yes Men, part of a group of comedians and activists who organize harmless pranks to spark political debate. Here, two members of the group, Andy and Mike, embark on several adventures, all of which are caught on film with utter hilarity, and which show viewers some disturbing realities. The film starts when one of the Yes Men's projects, a fake web site called GATT.org that imitates the WTO site, is taken to be real thing. Though the Yes Men's site parodies the concepts of the WTO in an attempt to voice their opposition to its policies, this detail goes overlooked by certain unscrupulous international organizers. For example, the Yes Men respond with glee to an invitation to attend a textile conference in Finland. They quickly go to work designing a costume for their presentation--a skintight gold bodysuit equipped with an inflatable phallus on which is mounted a TV screen. Hilarious footage of the faked presentation and its content--comparing current third-world labor practices to the slave trade--is simply unbelievable. However, the Yes Men's point is made loud and clear when nobody reacts: if you're the WTO, you can get away with anything. Further hijinks ensue, making THE YES MEN a fabulous, funny, and surprising film. [More]

Reviews for The Yes Men
A hilarious subversion of the World Trade Organisation - but better, perhaps, not to entrust such weighty issues to a couple of confidence tricksters.
The movie's humor, as these protesting pranksters make their points with deadpan delivery, hits its target more effectively than any bomb-thrower could.
Think of a politicized version of the MTV show Punk'd and you're on your way to getting the idea of The Yes Men.
While some scenes seem to have been re-created, any questionable authenticity is negated by the hilariousness of the film.
Apparently most people lose the urge to fight for justice somewhere between the frat house and the corporate cubicle.
The film is amusing and at times informative, but it's also got an underlying self-importance that's a little condescending.
Inspiring and shows just how far a couple of guys, a few computers, and a good sense of humor can go.
The Yes Men's political performance art is very funny and much care obviously goes into it.
One doesn't often go to a documentary expecting belly laughs, but this one delivers more than its share.
Anyone who suspects that satire is dead need look no further than The Yes Men to realize the art of lampooning is alive and well.
If there is a lesson to be learned from The Yes Men, it's that it's best to think of how our actions might affect others because hell hath no fury like being the butt of one of these fellow's jokes.
The Yes Men has its moments, but they're too few and far between to make us drop our Palm Pilots and dissolve into continuous laughter.
Andy and Mike can’t believe what they’ve been able to get away with. They don’t bully; rather, they make their point with a really subversive sense of humor. And a brass set.
There are few things as satisfying as watching the wealthy, righteous, powerful or pompous get fully duped. As a result, there is a great deal of satisfaction in The Yes Men.
Their usual mode is face to face, as they attend a conference or address a group of people in suits.
The sheer chutzpah that Andy and Mike...exhibit as they make their outrageous statements is a pleasure for the anarchist inside me.
