I think this is one of the best movies ever made. It doesn't insult your intelligence with Hollywoody drek. It is horrifying, it is realistic, it is difficult, it assumes you are intelligent enough to understand and follow what is happening. It is emotionally wrenching. It is also technically extremely well done, very tight, incredible acting, incredible photography, almost every shot, especially at the end, is a masterpiece. Try to imagine what it actually took to make this movie. So much of it is so realistic it almost seems like a documentary. One forgets this is a movie and that every single person in it is an actor. Try to imagine yourself in the the shoes of any of the main characters-- what would it take to be those people. This is really a masterwork of a movie. Jessica Chastain delivers a powerful performance, carrying the film with a sense of determination that never feels overdone. What really stood out to me is the attention to detail and the slow buildup leading to the final act. Instead of relying on constant action, the film builds tension through investigation and persistence, which makes the payoff even more impactful. It’s not always an easy watch, but that’s part of what makes it so effective. Overall, I’d give it a 9/10 for its realism, strong performances, and gripping storytelling.
