Driving cross-country to deliver a vintage Mercedes, Sean (Kerr Smith) does the one thing he wasn't supposed to do -- pick up a hitchhiker. From that moment on, his road trip is transformed into a surreal and terrifying nightmare. Sean's new companion, Nick (Brendan Fehr), is not the laid back, aimless traveler he seems to be. He is a hunter. And his prey are a roving band of forsaken youths who feed upon hapless victims found in the dead of night—in a word, vampires. When Sean and Nick pick up the dazed and frightened Megan (Izabella Miko), whom the killers had left for dead, she becomes a human lure for the vampires. The stakes are raised when Sean himself is infected. The only cure for them all is to kill the host organism, Kit (Johnathon Schaech), the vicious leader. It's a deadly race against time to escape the fate of their enemies— joining the ranks of the insatiable undead forever. -- © 2001 Screen Gems [More]

A rare horror film in which the heroes are better drawn than the monsters, this trips up because Schaech doesn't cut it as a master fiend and the car chases distract from the dread.

It's not a scary movie, it's a vampire movie. And in reality, it's kind of a bad vampire movie.

The writer/director then squanders his wayward energies on repetitive, ham-fisted action and boring violence.

As a horror film, it's not scary nor suspenseful; and as an action picture, it's not terribly exciting, if at all.

The only true forsaken are the disillusioned patrons seeking a good vampire movie.

Near Dark, the last great 'vampires-in-the-desert' flick is blasphemed over and over again. If you're thinking of seeing this, don't.

An unoriginal, but occasionally pungent little horror flick.

Se puede ver solamente si se es fanático del género o si se asiste al cine con ganas de dejar las neuronas en la entrada por un par de horas.

Some movies don't need to be analyzed, just watched. This is not one of those movies because it didn't entertain me. It bored me, and when I am bored I get cranky.

Vampire movies are almost by definition cheesy, but "The Forsaken" is a lot cheesier than most.
