Neverland Finds First Award of Season
"Finding Neverland" was named best film of the year by the National Board of Review, giving the film the first major award of the season, Reuters reports. Jamie Foxx was named best actor for his portrayal of Ray Charles in "Ray," and Annette Bening receive the best actress award for her work in "Being Julia." Michael Mann won for best director for his work on "Collateral," starring Foxx and Tom Cruise, while "The Sea Inside" was awarded the prize for top foreign film. The awards are voted on by a 150 member screening committee and a 12 member awards panel. Although the choices by the National Board of review are often more eccentric than the Academy Awards, they can also be an early indicator of what films and actors will win Oscars. "Finding Neverland," starring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, is a fanciful bio of Peter Pan creator James Barrie.

The role he played was J.M. Barrie's American Producer, no accent necessary. Although the account in this story is not entirely biographical, this point is accurate. The man was a full blooded Yankee. (Reply to this) |
