Mighty potential
Beautiful trailer, Ridley Scott again rises to glory. In Ridley I trust ( Lord of the Rings should have been his...and King Arthur...Alexander... Troy..). Anyway, watch the trailer, and believe that a great movie can still be made and will be made, all the way up to Oscar-height... I'm just having this strange positive vibe in need for recognition, can't help it after all the dissapointments.

Unfortunately, I've yet to see a movie that can convince me of Orlando Bloom's credentials as anything more than eye-candy for the ladies. Legolas was cool, but quite the undemanding role. His job in POTC was nothing to write home about, and Troy didn't alter that perception at all. However, I do like Ridley Scott so heres to hoping he can pull a performance out of him.

I firmly place this film in my "Wait for the reviews to come in" category.

Orlando Bloom was perfect as Paris in Troy. Played the unlikeable, coward bastard very well. Almost too well in fact. He gets a lot of criticism for POTC when he was doing exactly what the director wanted to do, which was play the complete opposite of Depp's character. Of course that in itself wasn't very demanding. So I guess we will have to see if he can do anything else.

I guess my problem with Bloom is that he hasn't shown me a character with depth, or something approaching a leading-man kind of charisma. That could well be due to just not having the right parts tossed on his lap or the director's hand in things. I'd imagine that is what Ridley Scott is banking on and is giving him the chance to rise up. However, until I see that level of performance from him directly, I remain skeptical.

Orlando certainly doesn't look as ill-cast as Ferrell did in Alexander, in fact he's pretty cute. But he hasn't been given a chance to be a leading man and I think he's going to do just fine. Plus with Liam Neeson, Hollywood's busiest character actor, the movie can't be all bad.

Although I'm not sure how his cuteness factors in, I'll give you that he looks okay physically for the part from what I've seen in the trailer. And with Ridley at the helm I don't think it will be a bad movie. I'm just saying that he needs to prove himself, which he's now in a position to do. In terms of being miscast, my view is that he lacks a little in the masculinity department to play a knight. I'm worried that his performance will be more that of a poet in a tin can. But like I said, I'm willing to forego judgement until I've seen it.

I hope they don't make out that the Crusades were a good thing, because they weren't. As for Bloom... well, people who say he's pretty much untried are probably right. I don't hold anything against him myself... we'll see how it goes, eh?

you can never go wrong with Ridley Scott
I think Kingdom of Heaven looks like the next big hitorical epic and ofcourse since the last historical epic that was big was none other then Gladiator, this movie will be just as good.

I can guarantee u all one thing, it will be A WHOLE LOT BETTER THEN TROY AND ALEXANDER.

Movies - you have a choice
Now that it is almost $10 to see a movie, I only go and see epic movies. Ridley Scott is the master of course. I wish he would have done Troy it would have been more true to the story than a vehicle for Brad Pitt's pecs. Orlando Bloom would have had top billng. If Mr. Scott did Alexander it wouldn't have been so long, but whether you liked the gay undertones or not, Alexander the great was gay. The movie of course wouldn't have been so Oliver Stonish which that guy should just stay out of directing movies. I like Orlando Bloom and I am 42 years old. Eye candy or not, I am going to let him grow into the big parts he's playing. Has anyone seen Johnny Suede that Brad Pitt was in. It is too bad that it costs $10 to go the movies and thus it is society that makes guys like Orlando into stars, before they can become the consumate actors like Peter O'toole. (Who has done some z-runners) Studios have to put "stars" or eye-candy in movies in order to make the big budget movies that cost $10. The great thing about movies is that you have a choice. Don't go or do. My hope is that you go and help Orlando become the consumate actor he wants to become.
