Nihilis writes: on Jan 28 2005 06:48 PM This is the beginning! Watchmen... * significant change heartbeat*... for me, was the difference I was looking for. I recognized it in "the incredibles", I very very much recognized it, but when this is done in real time, it should crack our thoughts and just be great! It should, owh, it must! But as a "free" dutchman, I propably believe too much in true revelation, or is it just me and my understanding... ok, I admit it, I'm stoned, but when I saw the title "watchmen" in the news, I just kept feeling not alone.. . Let it be. And Mr Greengrass, if you're listening, you better understand "Watchmen", cause we're watching your moves!. Goodluck and let wisdom lead the way. Respect, Niels Oh, and not to be paranormal or something, but This movie has gor to have some powerfull old school heavy hopeful music in it; And as it is, I am just listening to some Ennio Morricone - Israel... "The Laughing man looking at his doom" falling... :) whatever. (Reply to this) |

renodc writes: on Jan 30 2005 06:05 PM Not holding my breath. I was initially extremely excited about this project when I heard Darren Aronofsky was attached to write and direct, but, as is typical, Aronofsky bolted for another project. Now, Paul Greengrass, who is nowhere near as interesting as Aronofsky, is attached, and who knows how this will turn out. The Watchmen will require someone extremely imaginative, and I'm not sure Greengrass can pull it off. We'll see. (Reply to this) |

overthehead writes: on Jan 31 2005 11:46 AM Well... Yeah, I wish Aronofsky was still doing it. I'm not even a big fan of Pi, and I haven't even seen Requiem, but one thing I do know is that that guy will not compromise. If they want to make this into a movie, it cannot be a crowd pleaser. It has to be unsettling. That's something Hollywood has been unwilling to do with big budget projects since the early '80s. Is this big budget? Still, David Hayter's writing it, and he did a great job with the X-Men movies. He can keep the action flowing without losing the heart. As for Greengrass, I'm unfamiliar with him. I heard The Bourne Supermacy" was very good, and another one, "Bloody Sunday", was fantastic. In fact, from what I've heard about "Bloody Sunday," Greengrass might just be what this project needs. Still, one of the biggest concerns is how can they tell so much a massive story in so short a time? That'll be one of the big telling points. Whatever the case, you bet I'm looking forward to it! Smartest Person Here writes: on Jan 13 2006 01:33 PM Watchmen won't occur.... I don't see it happening, folks. There are too many elements in Watchmen to make a 2 or even a 3 hour movie and most of them are cerebral. X-Men was a success because it attached the human element to the project (ie: racism). But, where is the human element in Watchmen? It is a about a cold war which is no longer going on (could they substitute terrorism?), it has multiple old and new characters intereacting, and multiple, seperate 'origins' that effect the characters. Good luck pulling it off on screen. Now, don't get me wrong, it is a great comic/graphic novel, but it won't work on the big screen. Now, on sci-fi or HBO, maybe... (Reply to this) |

Dave the Destroyer writes: on Apr 21 2006 06:39 PM In reply to this comment (#819353) HBO vs the Sci-Fi Channel Nah, not Sci-Fi - "Watchmen" needs some respect and gravitas to get off the ground, and being perceived as something cooked up for the channel that runs "Ghost Hunters" wouldn't be doing it any favors. HBO, on the other hand, rents storage space for all the Emmys and Golden Globes it receives year after year. HBO has the pocketbook to do "Watchmen" justice, and the lust for more awards and accolades to see to it that "Watchmen" doesn't get turned into "Battlefield Earth". (Reply to this) |
