Dougray Scott as James Bond? Wanna Make a Bet?

Odds are looking good that Dougray Scott will be the next James bond, Dark Horizons reports. A large number of wagers have been placed to Bookmaker William Hill on Scott, best known for his work in "Mission:Impossible II." A Hill spokesman indicated that such bets may be the result of inside information. Odds for Scott are set at 6-9; Clive Owen is at 5-2, and Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor are next at 4-1 odds.

Kenobi. Obi Wan Kenobi! I would like to see Ewan get the part if they cut back on the crap....you know. Bad script. Bad Dialogue. Bad action. How about more intrigue, and intelligence in a bond movie. I think that Ewan would bring more to the part than a pretty face. He has a charisma similar to that which Sean Connery had in the movies. I think that they have really gone over the top with the action baloney. Hey. I like action, but let's keep it real. Not Real Stupid! I liked Pierce as well, but if they are going to make a change I want it to involve a change in philosophy in the script writing. We don't need any more XXX's or Mission Impossible jumping onto the train sequences....that is just stupid stuff and the 007 movies have had a ton of those moments. Also, the I am cooler and badder than any guy out there doesn't quite cut it anymore. It's a little played out. Same thing with the lame names of the girls. I would like to see Guy Ritchie take the whole thing over. (snatch, Lock Stock and two Smoking Barrels) Just a thought, and if they are going to keep the movie campy, then at least put it back on the Adult level...Get Britney Spears to join and have her topless on a white sandy beach! Now that would be a Bond babe moment! Heck, that movie scene might just overtake Titanic.

Either Gerard Butler or Clive Owen. I really can't imagine Scott in the role at all... Butler and Owen have the carisma to pull it off. Those two actors I think would appeal to both women and men.

Clive Owen is my favorite for the part, but I do agree Gerard Butler would be great too. They both remind me alot of Sean Connery.

Enough with this neverending quest to find "the new James Bond" !! I don't really remember if it was that hard to get Pierce Brosnan, but apparently it is to find a successor for the role. The question the producers should ask themselves is if we still really care about the choice... What Bond fans care about is mostly going back to good scripts and respect to the Bond saga altogether. "Die another day" was crap, from the Madonna cameo to the cheap CGI of Bond surfing icy waters (I've seen better animation in openings of videogames!!). My vote goes to Clive Owen, too.

I didn't realize Scott was originally cast as Wolverine and had to bow out due to his Mission Impossible commitment. I read this on IMDB, so take that information for what it's worth. Nonetheless, he does look the part well enough and he's the right age (30 this year), height, and he's a Scotsman. I'd put money on it, too, but as with some other comments, I want a script where he's not having to save the world. There's enough political intrigue that doesn't require saving the world every time. I also want the action to be sharp, intense, and realistic, something most action movies have strayed away from -- you just know it can't happen or that it would leave the guy in the hospital in a body cast, etc. Make it look like Bond is in a genuine predicament. That is what was so great about the early Bond films. And nude babes. Lots of nude babes, dammit!

The new bond writers seriously need to take a look back to the past films for their inspiration. And then cut back to the Sean Connery films, those were the best by far. And possibly come up with a good plot this time. None of the Bond movies have been realistic, but the past few bond movies were just boring.

I'm a huge McGregor fan but think he would be terrible as Bond. The only thing he has going for him is his accent (which isn't even British. Yikes). Clive would make a better bond: he has the right look and accent to boot.

All this being said however doesn't mean anything since the series has gone to poo. Unless they fix the problems it won't matter who plays Bond because the films will stink anyway.

How about McGregor's sidekick in Trainspotting, Johnny "Sick Boy" Lee Miller. He does a great Connery impression! :)
