A "Super" Night for Spurlock
by RT Staff | February 16, 2005
Discuss Article
"Super Size Me," Morgan Spurlock's documentary about a month-long diet of nothing but McDonald's, is the first-ever winner of the Writer's Guild of America's award for documentary feature writing, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The award was presented at a ceremony at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. The category was created because the WGA said it wanted to recognize the impact of writers on nonfiction features.

I've watched that documentary a dozen times, and I still think it's hilarious. And very scary, too. I'm very glad I stopped eating McDonald's at age ten.

This guy is a nutjob
Whatever happened to personal responsibility? He just basically made everyone's obesity case for them - yes, this food makes you fat. And yes, Americans already know it.

Why are we giving this guy accolades? Because he's stupid enough to put himself on a diet we all know is going to do him harm? I wouldn't drink antifreeze at each and every meal to prove that it's not good for you. It's a little thing called common sense. Yes, it was well made, but the message has already been delivered a milllion times in a million different ways - eat better - eat whole grains - read labels - eat fruits and vegetables. This guys messages wasn't new or innovative. It was regurgitated, preachy crap.

Personally, I think the guys idea was moronic at best, and life-threatening at worst.
