Luhrmann's Alexander the Great Still a Go?
Baz Luhrmann's Alexander the Great movie may yet see the light of day. According to Dark Horizons, Screen Daily is reporting that producer Dino De Laurentiis is intent on getting that movie made. "We will shoot the film in one year's time, and it will be the Alexander that everyone has been waiting for," Laurentiis said. Leonardo DiCaprio and Nicole Kidman were originally attached to star, with Luhrman directing.

antarianzan writes: on Feb 22 2005 10:34 PM I love Luhrmann. I'm interested in seeing what he'll do with something so completley different than his Red Curtain Trilogy. He and Nicole are quite the team though, I'd think this would be amazing. I hope it finally happens. (Reply to this) |

ninjaandy writes: on Feb 24 2005 05:41 PM There were maybe a few other exceptional historical war leaders, just none American audiences would care to see, what with all the money they'd have to put into a film about them. Well, maybe Napoleon. He wasn't as good as Alexander, all things considered, but he might be more interesting. (Reply to this) |

inessalenin writes: on Feb 26 2005 02:49 PM Check his file on IMDB, Baz seems have no project since Moulin Rouge. I know he would do good in Alexander but I wonder how much anticipation people would enter theater? Some bad critics movie still make a big boxoffice but Stone's version was terribly disaster. jeanpaul writes: on Feb 27 2005 09:22 AM That's funny... Wow, so many are so incredibly SURE baz's version of the Macadonian Conqueror, is going to be great... it would be really FUNNY if, ultimately, after he made it and it came out, Oliver Stone's version, compared, would look like a MASTERPIECE... Nicole Kidman is no recipe for success, she is simply OVEREXPOSED. (Reply to this) |

jeremyd4 writes: on Feb 27 2005 11:33 PM Oliver Stone's Alexander wasn't as poorly received internationally as it was in America and has easily surpassed it's production costs now (not saying i'm a fan though)... I'd be interested to see a second attempt at this film just because it seems like a cool thing to do - two directors having a go at the same material. Baz was supposed to make this film first anyways, and had connections with royal families, access to armies and things like that, so I always thought his film was more planned out. It would've been cool to have both movies come out at the same time and then have a movie showdown. This is all kinda like the Exorcist Beginning movies because there's something cool about seeing two versions of the same story and seeing who handled it better. I'd like to see whether the 1st attempt of that movie really was as bad as the studios thought! (Reply to this) |

alexandros writes: on Sep 06 2006 12:02 PM In reply to this comment (#819978) he conquered 90% of the known world by the age of 27, even Julias Cesar looked up to him. When he led his army, he was in the fornt line, many times he'd pass the front to get the first kill , he wouldn't ask his men to do something he himself wouldn't do, that's why his army fought with passion and followed him everywhere.
