"Wonder Woman" Woos Whedon!

Summary

ComingSoon.net shares a rather exciting press release from the movie makers over at Warner Bros. Pictures...and it's news that should please many a frantic fanboy: not only is the "Wonder Woman" movie project a full-on, green-light go, and not only is there already an intriguing little teaser poster in circulation...but it looks like the flick will be written and directed by none other than Joss Whedon. Not a big fan of WW, but I probably will be with Whedon doing her. The character needs a lot of work. Too bad he's not on X-men. Maybe further down the line. Gellar as Wonder Woman?

This is great news. Everything Whedon does seems to turn out so watchable, but I think Gellar would be completely wrong as Wonder Woman.

I say bring Linda Carter out of retirement!

Anyone that might've been nervous about Wonder Woman coming to the big screen can breathe a sigh of relief. If there was anyone more perfect to handle the iconic female heroine, its Joss Whedon. Now the true frosting on the cake would be to have Linda Carter join the cast as Queen Hippolyta (Wonder Woman's mother and Queen of the Amazons). She's still stunningly beautiful and it works with comic continuity since the Queen was the original Wonder Woman during World War II. I say its time to start lobbying for it. In the meantime, bring on "Serenity"!

Yep, I wasn't very interested in WW to begin with, to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I love my comic books just never got into WW, is all. And although I'm still excited with most upcoming comic adaptations (with the possible exceptions of the horribly miscast Fantastic Four, and the looking-quite-horrible Elektra, but there's also new X-Men, Spider-Man, Batman, Sin City and the likes to get excited about), I just didn't feel that WW would be one to look out for.

But now that they've gotten Joss Whedon on board (writing *and* directing, very important), this has moved right to the top of my need-to-see list, just a tad below Serenity.
