DreamWorks Taps "Kumar" Creators for New Eddie Murphy Comedy
by Scott Weinberg | March 21, 2005
Discuss Article
Screenwriters Jon Hurwitz & Hayden Schlossberg, fresh off the cult fave that is "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle," have just inked a deal with DreamWorks and Imagine. Their "Johnny Blaze" concept will make its way to your local multiplex with Eddie Murphy in the title role. Described by Variety as an action-comedy about "an old-school rapper who retires and becomes a private eye who solves crimes within the hip-hop world," the flick could be a return to the "grown-up" comedy material that Murphy's been avoiding these days. Obviously a very busy pair of screenwriters, Hurwitz & Schlossberg also have a variety of other projects underway, including comedies "The Wingman" and "The Gym Teacher."

I agree. I'd love to see the old Murphy back on screen also. I just saw Coming To America again and it is still hilarious.

I think that Harold & Kumar was funny though.

I think the last decent thing Murphy was in, was Coming to America and that was just pretty good. Trading Places was my favorite.
I loved Harold and Kumar.
