"Dawn" Director Signs On to Deliver "Rainbow Six"
After helming the surprise hit "Dawn of the Dead" last year, director Zack Snyder earned himself a sweet deal from Paramount: Snyder will write and direct an adaptation of Tom Clancy's "Rainbow Six." Paramount's had solid success with previous Clancy adaptations ("The Hunt for Red October," "Clear and Present Danger"
plus they also have director Peter Berg signed up to direct a "Splinter Cell" movie. Snyder will have a ton of material to leaf through as he pens his "Rainbow" script; several screenwriters, including William Wisher ("The 13th Warrior"
and Michael Shiffer ("Crimson Tide"
, have already contributed to the property. According to Variety, the movie "centers on (CIA agent John) Clark joining with several colleagues to leave the CIA and create an England-based multinational org designed to battle terrorism."

I also liked how he turned down S.W.A.T. because they wouldnt let him take it to an R rating. That means this movie is most likely gonna be R rated, yay. Dont know how good it will be though, but an R rating is a good place to start! (Reply to this) |

Unless the studios, like me, are happy to see decent R rated action movies coming round again (Assault on Precinct 13). Snyder did a really good job of Dawn so it should still be one to look forward too. I just hope they keep Liev Schrieber as John Clark as he was the best thing in The Sum Of All Fears (Reply to this) |

I am kinda bummed that they are choosing to adapt "Rainbow Six" first, instead of it's predecessor "Without Remorse",which to me is Clancy's best novel next to Hunt for Red October. "Remorse" deals with the origin of John Clark, and my fear is that they will minimize the happenings in "Remorse" and try to cram them into "Rainbow Six". (Reply to this) |
