Get a Taste of "Dark Water" a Month Early!

Those who've been waiting patiently to see Jennifer Connelly in the new Asia-to-America remake entitled "Dark Water" can feel free to augment their movie calendars. Disney has decided to move the flick from August 12 to July 8, which pits it up against Fox and their "Fantastic Four." ComingSoon.net shares a press release in which Buena Vista prez Chuck Viane states, "After viewing a recent cut of 'Dark Water,' we were completely blown away by this amazing and powerful film. We felt that it had tremendous across-the-board appeal, and every potential to become one of the big summer films. A July release date seemed like the ideal time to reach the widest possible audience."Pretty confident words considering that "Dark Water" was initially scheduled for release in late 2004. I loved the original "Dark Water". I love Jennifer Connely. I trust Water Salles. I hope they don't screw up too much in the "americanization" of the script. I hope they followed the path of "The Ring". The things they changed from "Ringu" were appropriate and well done, plus a tight direction and an excellent cinematography helped giving "The Ring" an identity of its own.

With Walter Salles as director, I have a feeling Dark Water is going to be one of the rare Americanized foreign films that is actually as good as or better than the original.
