Director Snagged for Amanda Bynes' Shakespeare Modernization
by Scott Weinberg | April 06, 2005
Discuss Article
Variety gives us the scoop on a modern-day take on "Twelfth Night," which will be directed by Andy Fickman ("Reefer Madness"Wink and starring Ms. Amanda Bynes ("What a Girl Wants"Wink. "She's the Man" is, not surprisingly, "a story about the comic and romantic complications that ensue when a teenage girl poses as her missing twin brother for two weeks." The comedy is a DreamWorks production, and Lauren Shuler-Donner ("X-Men," "Timeline"Wink will be the producer on the scene.

Somehow, I can't see Amanda Bynes dressing up as a boy and making it believable. She's so cute and fine...she's so not boyish like Hilary Swank.

Yeah, but it's amazing what you can do with prosthetic makeup these days... I sure as hell hope they're going to modernise the speech as well. I walked out of a performance of Midsummer Night's Dream on the grounds that I had no clue what was going on.

What, the remarks we're making or the fact that we're talking to each other?
