Beyonce to Be a "Dreamgirl"?
The Broadway hit "Dreamgirls" is presently being adapted for the big screen by filmmaker Bill Condon ("Chicago," "Kinsey"
, and DreamWorks is reportedly courting Ms. Beyonce Knowles ("The Pink Panther," "Austin Powers: Goldmember" to take on a featured role. According to Variety, Condon's adaptation "retains Tom Eyen's book and lyrics as well as Henry Krieger's music," so you "Dreamgirls" fans can breathe a sigh of relief. on Apr 11 2005 02:43 PM I think Beyonce is great, but I don't know if she has what it takes for the leading role. I just can't see her performing the showstopper "And I am telling you I'm not going". Comparisons with Jennifer Holliday will not do her good. Get Mariah Carey; she's on the comeback trail and surely can give better renditions of the songs. And I may be one of the few that saw that indie "Wisegirls" she starred in with Mira Sorvino, and I hate to admit she CAN act. (Reply to this) |
